It's not even now is it? I've not seen any credible info. to support that, but happy to be convinced otherwise

Nope, someone's given you a massive "bum steer" there, capacitive only.
Never even heard of resistive + capacitive, doesn't exist does it?
You can still use a finger nail on capacitive though, I don't have any prob

IIIRC I don't think there is...
But I vaguely recall someone mention there's efforts to port something that'll work nicely, or implement something new.

Or something like that... something...

You need incentives for actions like this, to me this "future disruption" is the end of the exclusivity contract, the ability to move to your own OS again as a safety net if the contract didn't work in their favour or renewal falls through.
The obvious thing of the deal with MS is that Nokia is required to COMMUNICATE full exclusive commitment on WP. They constantly DO different things that they SAY. Haven't you noticed it? The whole N9 stuff doesn't fit in what they have communicated about their strategy. They know WP doesn't survive without them. They are playing time and with one strike they will kill the WP ecosystem.

Well, it shouldn't work with fingernail if the skin doesn't touch it. Fingernail is not conductive. If it works, there's something wrong. I've heard there are screens that combine both technologies.

I didn't say WP because they didn't turn that down.

Why does using a touchscreen with your fingernail even matter?

For those with long nails, I guess. Makes no sense to me either.

Even with resistive screens I never would use a fingernail on the screen. Keep mine trimmed and short.
