I hope the shutdown was not due to the kernel but some other software.
We'll see how the XLV performs and whether someone else experiences a mysterious shutdown. The state according to the logs was: DSME: BOOTSTATE: 'USER'
Is that what you say in your /proc/bootreason? That would be highly unusual because Bootstate user is the normal behaviour when the device boots up. Though to be fair, as you push the hardware (running 500MHz at low voltages), you would run an increased risk of bit inversion ( 1s being detected as 0s) and so the likelihood of random reboots would definitely increase, but I would have expected a proper message in /proc/bootreason (such as sw_rst) for that.

i'm running the ideal xlv kernel (500,850) and just reporting that i have not had any problems so far. callout fine, media plays ok, good battery consumption.

thanks again guys

I am still using the xlv/ideal kernel at 1ghz now and having no issue at all, maybe i just have some lucky hw.

Between i just readed today that the 4G network will use (790-862 Megaherz), just to look further in the future

just like i posted, one of your search on google will direct you to MaemoCentral

as your situation, i had quite a hard time looking for Lehto's kernels, but for searching, i was redirected to the link.

so far everything is OK @ 125-800MHz,

its not too hard finding lethos kernals. they are in the link under his name in every forum post of his.

infos to download titans kernals can be found in the wiki here.

I confirm perpetuum mobile computer ... got another one!

BTW dont make it fall to high ...

hi, great work!
I just flashed xlv kernel and every things work except video.For some reason the media player does not play any of my videos. I canplay them with mplayer(via kmplayer) without issues. I am runin 1ghz max and 125mhz min. the device havent down to 125 yet. still testing

ideal kernel:

26 = 1.075V x 600 MHz = 693

36 = 1.275V x 950 MHz = 1544
3c = 1.350V x 1000 MHz = 1823
43 = 1.438V x 1100 MHz = 2273
48 = 1.500V x 1150 MHz = 2588
so 810@ideal approx 600@stock
Can someone elaborate on these results - does this mean that for frequencies over 810 (compatered to stock kernel):
  • the CPU life gets shorter
  • the CPU gets warmer
  • the battery get warmer
  • the battery drains faster

Hey guys

been using xlv 500-800 from this morning... works great...
another thing i noticed is that smartflex is now working for me... it didn't work on the stock kernel...

will update if the n900 decides to crash...

also, battery consumption is way way better then lv kernel... (in my opinion anyway...)
