Well, I don't think you can think of Elop without thinking of Balmer. Maybe it's a game of Spy vs Spy... only they're BOTH trying to blow Nokia up. :P

As posted elsewhere (and, based on the way the community is evolving the further away we got from ITT)...

I don't think senior management would even know about it, & even if they did...
They'd only care because it helps in ensuring the N9's not as successful as it may have been.

In order to get at least some ROI, they want it to do as well as -or better than- the N900.
And there's no doubt that'll happen, even with the limited/ambiguous support in the lead-up-to &, following it's release.
It's still definitely getting way more interest than the N900 did IMO...*

But they also want to ensure it's not a raging success, so leaving this out there adds to the FUD.
And combined with other measures they've taken or are taking, it makes WP more compelling to the mainstream media.

None of this necessarily means they want MeeGo to go away forever, they just want to give WP the best jumpstart possible.
And if that means putting a dampener on MeeGo in the meantime, so be it, but it's all freaking madness if you ask me!

Sigh, not 100% sure what "regional only" means but it doesn't sound good:

And I guess the way things have already evolved wrt distribution, is evidence of that

(1) But it's also emerging in a space that's far more strongly dominated by iOS/Android, than 2yrs ago.
(2) Further compounded by a media fire-storm of negativity/uncertainty, that the N900 didn't have to the same degree.
If Nokia had realised (1) in January but instead decided to back MeeGo even more strongly.
Then I don't think MeeGo would've had anywhere near the same kind of negative perception it does now.
There'd still be an uphill battle ahead, but there'd also be a "tiny slither of hope"...
Even some mainstream love would've crept in, remained stable, & possibly even gradually climbed, preceding/following availability

You know dan, sometimes it's just better to move on. Endless grieving is not good for your mental health.

still searching a video, that shows the alarm clock ringing...
Alarm ringing is pretty much the same thing. When you swipe the green bar (just a little), the alarm stops and you get the actual alarm dialog with "stop" and "snooze" buttons. I believe if you don't press anything it's similar to "snooze", but I'm not exactly sure (whether it will always ring again). Of course there is also the "flip to shut up" thing as usual.

The N9 is by far the most convenient alarm clock I have ever used, phone or not. I also love the tone, as I usually have trouble finding a tone that is not too jarring but which I don't just sleep over.

I rather disliked the default settings of the N900 in this regard, as the sudden vibration always woke me up with a shock, while turning off the vibration made it too easy for me to oversleep. It was also much more cumbersome to configure all around.

And this is pretty much the theme of the N9 to me: More convenient in every day life.
