Attached is a current beta version (not even in extras devel yet)
(new features include weather radar - the localhost:8888/x.html now has a maps and radar button, and you can do radar50.heml or radar100.html for weather maps showing about 50 or 100 miles or whatever value).

First, try configuring the GPS so it works with the original built-in map program (or maemo mapper using the internal infrastructure). It is possible the GPS is not paired properly or something else - the bluetooth stack is complaining about finishing the connection properly.

http://www.zdez.org/minigpsd_0.31g_armel.deb should also work

Don't run anything that would start up rfcomm - minigpsd needs to do it:

1347 user 1884 SW /bin/sh /home/user/gpscon.sh
1348 user 1588 SW rfcomm connect 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

this blocks minigpsd from starting rfcomm to the GPS properly.

Did you try the built-in map application? Does it work?

The standard Map application works correctly and if i lunch MMapper set to GPSD Host works perfectly together too

I pulled out my n800 and can't duplicate it. Try deleting the GPS from the bluetooth device list (and/or remove any entry that matches the BT address from anything in /var/lib/bluetooth/), then redo the pairing. Also don't open an xterm, just reboot the device (after re-pairing the GPS), and start it in a place where the sky will allow a lock and see if the indicator turns yellow or green.

I'll look into it further, but it is a very subtle problem.

I have tried the procedure that you show removing any entry that matches the BT address from anything in /var/lib/bluetooth/ and in /var/lib/gconf/system/bluetooth/device/

After the only different that i found is in file:

In your system minigpsd run corrrectly

When using Google earth and using the xml data it is very jerky (updates every 4 seconds) but is there a way to have Google earth actually see the device as a real gps other then just some coordinates?

I was looking for some way for Google earth to look for the 2947 RAW or 22947 data ports, but came up empty.
