"Refresh" will overwrite existing pictures. "Retrieve" will not overwrite anything, ever.

Sounds kinda counter-intuitive: i was expecting it to be vice versa.

Appears that i get some contact duplicates after i "retrieved" with Hermes lately, though (my only data source is LinkedIn at the moment).
There is also slight possibility that i get some secondary phone numbers lost from contact info but i think it's rather MfE+neuvasync+google to blame.

Hermes will not create any additional contacts at the moment, except from Facebook if "Create birthday-only contacts" is enabled. There is an outstanding feature request ([url=https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10802]#10802[/ur]) which will allow the creation of contacts from LinkedIn; but that code doesn't yet exist.

That shouldn't be possible. If you can reproduce, please let me know. I don't sync Google Contacts, so wouldn't see it.

Hermes doesn't delete any contacts; so I'm not sure how your problem is related to Hermes.

The built-in Backup application can backup & restore contacts

  1. Go to your applications menu.
  2. Find Backup.

If you use Catorise, it's under the System category.

Can and does Hermes upload phone numbers and email addresses to Facebook? From the previous postings, I've learned that Hermes can't retrieve phone numbers and email addresses from Facebook but I haven't seen this question asked or answered.

I, for one, hope that Hermes can't and will never upload phone numbers and other contact info to Facebook.

Code:
#include <standard Facebook privacy rant>
