It's great looking back at some of these suggestions and noticing some have come true.
I am sure the N900 will survive at least long enough to get your QT projects out there.

Shouting aside, video editing is lacking on N900. Has anyone tried compiling avidemux by any chance? Deps I found for building 2.5 look optimistic:

sudo apt-get install \
build-essential \
cmake \
gettext \
liba52-0.7.4 \
liba52-0.7.4-dev \
libasound2-dev \
libarts1-dev \
libfaac-dev \
libfaad-dev \
libgtk2.0-dev \
libglib2.0-dev \
libmad0-dev \
libqt4-dev \
libvorbis-dev \
libx264-dev \
libxv-dev \
libxml2-dev \
libxvidcore-dev \
pkg-config \

i would wish to see a good image viewer(which has both portrait and landscape orientation)
a new web browser(with all features of MicroB) which can turn to both orientations with some swipe gestures in portrait..

Use Opera Mobile, instead of the default browser.

For what tasks would you need an editor on a device with so little resources as the n900?

Ffmpeg is available, which can do a few tricks.
