I successfully accomplished the dual boot setup with on a 16gb class 6 sdhc card.
Now I want to add your kde app for dual boot. I will use Pronuke instructions. Now my
question is I have USB Host mode using the osso status bar app. I have read that there
conflicts with kde and USB Host mode(osso status bar). Is there a way to setup kde
so that USB Host mode is not disabled or afficted. I'm thinking that since I have
USB Host mode working from normal flash(not dual boot) if I setup kde on dual boot mode
I should be ok. Any experience with this kind of setup? Any assistance or thoughts
would be greatly appreciated. Dan

There is no effect on USB host mode, in the beta test version, it has an icon built in

Please PM me for the new version

There is no jpeg support compiled into KDE it seems. Someone complained about not being able to set a wallpaper earlier, and this seems to be the problem. png files work fine for wallpapers, but jpg files do not show up.

khtml and the various kde image apps can display jpg just fine. The problem seems to only be in the file browser part of konqueror. This is weird since khtml is part of kdebase.

Hi Penguinbait! Of course I succeeded in completely borking my n810 with this. I am presently reloading all packages after reflashing. I also discovered in this occasion that the backup utility does not backup all the not hidden files in /home/user :-(
Next time I'll try after cloning my system to mmc1 or 2. This method for me was a disaster.

Sorry, its really meant for people are not able to boot from SD. Maybe your too smart for my instructions.

Ethier way , sorry you had problems.

Can you tell me why you had to reflash, what was borked exactly? Any problems with the application manager can be overcome, so I am unsure what you ran into that would make you reflash?

This may be OT but I didn't want to start another thread.

I want to replace the 2GB intermal (mmc2) card with a 4GB card on my N800. This is the card I used to load KDE so the local.img and swap.img are on it. Could I just FAT format the new 4GB card and copy the 2 files (local.img or swap.img) over or do I need to completely reload KDE using the new 4GB card?

I asked because I did not want to risk breaking anything. Thanks!

yup, just as you stated, it will look for local.img on boot, as long as its there KDE will work.

You however can not switch from mmc1 and place it in mmc2. As long as the slots are not changing your fine

Just noticed there is a precompiled md5sum in maemo scratchbox environment:

Code:
> /usr/X11R6/bin/X11/md5sum.textutils /etc/passwd
1a905958511d66dc00e9d396f414376c  /etc/passwd
> file /usr/X11R6/bin/X11/md5sum.textutils
/usr/X11R6/bin/X11/md5sum.textutils: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.4.17, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
> ldd /usr/X11R6/bin/X11/md5sum.textutils
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00000000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.3 => /lib/ld-linux.so.3 (0x00000000)

Ok, a lot of you are going to think this is a stupid question. But...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of installing KDE? Can I use Maemo software with that OS? Are there more applications I can use with it than with Maemo? Am I totally confused?

My problem is I love my n810, but I'm very disappointed with the available software.

Not stupid, but has been discussed many times.
Short answer is lots of extra software, plus the Maemo apps.
KDE's not an OS, it's an environment that sits on top of the OS.

I tried this and the step 1 went fine. Then there came errors stating that some packadges could not install / upgrade. And I could not remove them from app manager. Then I flashed the device to factory defaults, but it still says the same.

I have the newest build of the os installed. What the heck am I doign wrong here? I downloaded all needed files, and tried to install them in correct order. Help me please
