seems similar to something i experienced. watched the battery drop from ca 45% to 0.3, and keep thing going for anher half hour or so...

This behaviour might be the result of the battery's fuel gauge getting out of sync. See for example the section "Calibrate the notebook PC battery" here:

Of course, no one really knows how Li-Ion batteries work, so this procedure might lower you battery's capacity, instead of calibrating the fuel gauge.

So basically, it says to fully charge the battery, make sure the device doesn't go to sleep, while you fully discharge the battery, and then you fully charge it again. That doesn't seem so risky. Probably the easiest way to make sure it doesn't go to sleep and to make the battery discharge fast is to play a long video, right?

If you keep that in mind and you really need 2 hours with your laptop while it only gives that when you initially bought it thats a big problem.
