Hello from Amazon.com.

Thanks for ordering the Nokia N900 Unlocked Cell Phone/Mobile Computer. When you placed your pre-order, the detail page incorrectly indicated that the phone will work with AT&T 3G within the United States.

The Nokia N900 only works with T-Mobile 3G within the United States. If this wasn't what you expected, we understand if you'd like to update or cancel your order. You can make order changes here:

Maybe now they are clearing up any loose ends and getting ready to ship...
It still says that the N900 supports MMS.

I swear I just do not understand the mms thing. I am sure however that someone will come out with a 3rd party mms app

The manual is on Nokia's website, it is on the Ovi store (with only one application ready for purchase), and CTIA's Wireless IT and Entertainment show is next week in San Diego....I wonder if Nokia will release the phone in the US during the show to gain extra publicity.

Does anyone else think the price will go back up to $650 on Amazon after release? If i get a confirmation on that then i will pre-order asap!

Also: will they refund the difference if the price drops within 30 days of purchase?

Also: will the price be lower by Christmas than today's $582? Because this is suppose to be my b.day gift and my b.day is the week of Christmas. SO I was wandering if I should wait till the holidays to get a better deal...

As I understand it, MMS is implemented at a lower-level...kinda analogous to a 'transport layer' feature.

It's a fscking stupid place for such a feature, but so many people have gotten used to it, it's likely to hang around like a stale fart in a cushion.

You confused the heck out of me with that question but I think I know how to respond...The N900 version for the U.S. is special only because it also supports the 850mhz version of AT&T's network (regular, not 3g). It also has the standard english keyboard since the keyboard varies from region to region. Beyond that, in Europe, GSM service is basically a breeze with this phone since it supports every band that companies are known to use. In Asia it varies on what service is available. Currently in Japan only Softbank offers GSM service so you're stuck with 1.

I GUESS.
Amazon deal with Nokia about the price based on the order amount. That's why the original price is 588 and then change to 582. If more, maybe lower again.

there is no US version yet, apart from the localized keyboard layouts all the n900 specs are the same.
in terms of connectivity options, there is no difference. 850Mhz is not specific to the "US Version".
maybe nokia will release a NAM version some time in the future, with 3G support for networks other than T-Mo USA, but that's speculation.
