Reading the rest of your reply, I can't help but think that I should emphasise that this release is for developers.
That is, it is will almost certainly not be ready for end users at this stage.

I really feel disappointed by Nokia, when there won't be MeeGo-Release TODAY as promised.
In fact I don't have any hope that there will be a MeeGo Release today..
It is still only 4:00am in Los Angeles on the 30th of June.. so if by chance whoever was coordinating the release was based in LA, it would be still 5 hours before business even opened, and as long as they release it in 20 hours from now they could still keep the promise of releasing it on the 30th of June..

Have you read the thread? There were people asking a lot of useful questions about what to expect, what the release actually was, etc.

You're right in that it isn't as good as discussing an actual release, but it is natural and human that people will be curious.

From a user standpoint there is no difference between a closed thread and a thread you don't click on.
I guess the 2 possible issues are either the few KB it takes up on the servers database for additional useless posts, or you could argue that when you click 'new posts' it is still there and frustrating to ignore, but if either of those 2 issues are bothering you, perhaps your life needs spicing up, or something to create meaning beyond the forums... may i suggest you get a puppy?
