Not quite sure where that article suggest they are ready to ship. At best it suggests they've made some 'preparations' - which could mean anything.

Good question
Creating more Than one device With the same OS/GUI and ship to the endusers?
Sure, currently Nokia ships products with at least 8 different OS'es[*] to customers. I have not even counted how many UI's there are of both graphical and non-graphical

[*][/B] Of these OSses majority are linux variants, plus a sprinkling of BSD/homegrown/other...

'improving web experience on smartphones' - isn't that just working on the Firefox browser?

"Lassila underlines that the objective of the software developer remains to deliver the pre-ordered devices. Jolla has according to him made some preparations to deliver the second batch of tablets but remains unable to announce a detailed delivery schedule."

Exactly, Dave. That does not say they are ready to ship. It could mean anything. Given past experience with Jolla's rhetoric, "made some preparations to deliver the second batch" could well mean "threw away some garbage on the off chance that he might need the space".

Yeah. It probably means that they fired the useless cofounders/Top Managment team.

Techcrunch got it very wrong. Mozilla aren't discontinuing Firefox OS for phones, they are just refocusing the platform on other device categories (e.g smart TVs).
