That article reads a lot like a conspiracy theory.
Any company worth its salt has contingencies and a diverse and complimentary product/service offering to increase revenue and buffer for the changing times.
Oh, and the 'destruction of wealth' is ridiculous. Wealth is byproduct of productivity, in fact this is the very measure of a nations wealth (GDP). This is why 'free' OSS (eg. linux), open standards (eg. web), or academic information (eg. academic papers), or repositories of information (eg. libraries/wiki) can increase wealth dramatically more than proprietary systems -- it lowers the cost of entry and innovation all the while speeding up technological advancement. In other words: less time, more productivity. It's value cannot be measured directly as its cost is 0.
But thanks for the article. It's a reminder why I can continue to ignore Gizmodo.

Man, I wish I could see what he would say back. But then, he's probably so 20th Century that he doesn't even know how to read the "Youbook or whatever it is" comments. We should forgive him, though, I'm sure he has little time to really properly review things and get more practical experience what with being busy playing video games on his iPad instead of actually having an interest in the technology he "reviews."David Pogue with an ORIGINAL way to look like a snarky Apple fanboi. Look at the way he tries to hold off criticism by quickly putting the brakes at the end in the hopes that he doesn't lose ALL appearance of such TOTAL credibility. I kid--I kid. I kid because I like it. I like how seriously and credible your review was and how truly worthy of a slice of my day it was to watch.
You see what I did there, right? Oh the sarcasm! The sarcasm!
On the other hand, a great majority of his 'copycat' remarks wouldn't have been uttered if he was reviewing a maemo/meego handset. So imho there is indeed a pretty big similarity between those ui elements on honeycomb and iOS that he's showing.
(but yeah, there were quite a few honeycomb-exclusive features that he just glossed over without even mentioning)
