2 is available for n8x0...
I believe also for n900...
3 is only available for n900...I can't remem where I saw it last...I know I have it in storage somewhere around my den of iniquity!
...put it on.....but I just kept itching to play on a big real estate screen
3 is an incredible game..the best of them all ..before or after...charming really...infinitely playable.

Ah...you JUST started playing!
You are new to the game period.
Isn't it great ?!?!

Ooooh if you like hereoes of might and Magic 2 and esp. 3
then I have a game name for you that you will LOVE...just a sec.
ummm...ok...I just needed a coffee to think and pull out one of my comps....It's late here..muzzy headed and all..
Fired her up....I could never remem the bloody name for the game.
It is definitely one that would make a wicked port.
possibly a few have played it....not sure
AHA!...found it..I'm up allll night now...playin it
WARLORDS BATTLECRY 3
Gadzooks it's good.
Real time strat. and roleplaying with fantasy elements. Very very very interesting. Characters can collect and use or sell gear..kill other heroes for theirs ...make alliances...it is pretty cool.
There is a quest plotline option ....or multiplayer ...up to 8 ...maps can be pregen. or fixed known maps.
Similarly to HoMM2/3 A hero has a "race" bonuses and minuses
and occupation....but the customizable potential is K-razy. You can create uber sorcerers....grimmest of necromancers...engineers of incredible talent that make their own gear ...summoners of staggering ability..
check out this pdf of the hero/race/occupation symbiosis tables....armies and structures are quite unique... way cool fun game.

.It is a wicked game and up there big time with my all time fav's like HOMM3, DungeonKeeper2, Knights of Honour, NWN and others.

Ach I won't carry on and bore you with more deets.
Grab a copy and play it.

As for HOMM2/3 you gotta get the original disks ...pull some files from it...bin and a couple others if mem serves(sound maps...etc)
and make sure the game on your n8x0/n900 device has the location of those needed files or it won't run.
I'm sure there are more detailed instructions around than mine.
That is more or less what you must remem to do.

Thanks for the manual, that's just more reading material that I've been stashing in the last few weeks.
Yeah, I only have played strategies like AoEII, WarcraftIII...
But HeroesIII is Ubercool for me right now.

Ach...it's not a manual....all that is is a bunch of charts...ie...say you decide being race type ssarhti (lizard species) or the plague lords (muahaha) they have a specific +,0, or minus to certain attributes...so you pick one of I dunno 16 races...according in a holistic way to what you would like your prime character to grow towards...with occupation ...there are tons of options...with that +,0, or - option involved ..very very stackable ..The game dynamic predates w.o.w. and warcraft 3 but you can see where those boys got it from...the permutations for character creation and development are almost infinite. the game is very similar to aoe2 and warcraft3.
Like AoE2... hehe...ya...it is a good 'un ...heroes3 is ...to use a very apt term....charming...isn't it? place in the heart...
Hmm like real -time strat. eh?....hmm...yeah you should take a run at KoH 1 or 2 (knights of Honor) Damn I'd luv to get everybody here playing on that map ...hehe...well we wouldn't be able to get EVERYBODY here on the map....but the allowance for a pretty big multiplayer number is there. and you get to pick your kingdom from over a hundred available....purdy awesome game
I always enjoy starting from a country at maps edge..or on an island... back to the wall ...Try KoH 1 or 2 out...I think you would really like it. One of my alltime real-time strat. favs .
I know there are whack of others that are real classics that are sleepers or that no one plays or thinks of any more...Really good games just aren't made like those ones anymore...the "golden age" of gaming I call it.
If I remem any real good game names I'll update it in my gushing over warlords battlecry 3 post.....
Have fun with HOMM3 ....

(p.s.- necromancers are cool....the uber-liches rule )

Warlords II are really cool. Mac version only though, others suck. Read about KoH, looks very promising. Out of curiosity, is there a good Mac emu for N900?

Warlords 2 wasn't bad at all...Gotta try warlords battlecry 3 then...cause it blew everything else away...

Ya KoH 1 and 2 esp rulez man...very deep planning went into that one...forget the tactical battle or quick fight...option even(frankly tho...better if you manage the fighting...than the AI...you may walk away with more troops afterward if you are a good tactician and know what kinds of troops to pit against what kind of enemy troops on the battle field....terrain advantage means everything too...keep hiltop advantage if you can ...) ....which is great BTW...but above that...from the economic, natural resource base, to geopolitics and religions...the weave of them all together dictate what you can do..who you want as allies / enemies / etc....the level of intrigue you can do...sending one of your knights...(mr spy knight ) whom you've trained up ..into your friends or enemies country and foment rebellion...unrest...turn friends against friends ...have a neighbouring ruler suddenly come down with a fever ...take ill and die () ...must have been a bad fig ...eh? ...JUST gotta make sure your boy don't get caught! ....or keep him at home to sniff out spies come trying to do the same to you...hehe ...marry off the kids to more powerful (if possible) neighbours...form alliances through treaty trade marriage ..or a simple desire for vengeance against a common centuries old enemy....wicked cool game on many levels

.
hm..wasn't it pear or power pc emulator? ..and it was either mac 9 or 10...I tried it once a few years back..spent alot of time.fiddling around trying and trying to get it to run fast enough...you CAN get mac to run on n900 but it is an eensy-weensy bit slow (big understatement ...I figured everyone hears how slow something runs and don't believe it until they see it for themselves... me too...that's why I tried it! OMAGAWD it was slow. ...it is proof of concept...it can be done.....perhaps someone who is more a mackineese guru / n900 savant can get it to run faster than I...I care little for...and understand even less about the mac since it's early years. palm ran faster ...debian runs faster...other cool stuff runs faster...maybe an earlier mac release may run faster...never tried that...a more recent release may have been the prob....not sure....There must be some mac wizard in our forum who can shed light on the prob..... maybe a solution too.

Actually...there was a really wicked game back in the day that was real time...fantasy based tactical warfare but with a very serious physics engine...terrain advantages mean EVERYTHING...well almost everything ..single or multiplayer....make your own maps even....could play the living or the dead... the living side had human footsoldier warriors....red haired crazy @ss beserkers with no armour and only a huge sword with scottish accents like sean connery ( no lie)....elvish bowmen and cranky dwarven crude explosive (grenade) experts.... damn it was a good game! funny as hell...shamans to heal...etc..some of the lines they have are hilarious....especially if you run troops through the line of fire...gore level is EXCEPTIONAL
It is ugly watchin your own dwarves lob an explosive downhill only for it to bounce off a rocky outcropping and spin straight into the centre of your platoon of armoured footsoldiers....the body parts flying everywhere..arms...legs...it is incredible how far a skull will fly and how many multiple bounces with good trajectory it can do before rolling to a blood y stop.....the gore ...the giant black scorched smudge and huge bloody smear where 20 of your own men were a second ago...ouch. and the lines they say! And you SEE the shock wave from every explosion...naw they thought of quite a bit when they made this game.
Yup wicked physics engine...good storyline quest plot for single player too....hmmm what was the name....? something....MYTH 1 and 2 and 3 ...1 was grand fun...2 was little tougher ....3 was a bugger. I promise you tho...those game will piss you off concerning your lack of immediate foresight in a tactical sitch as much as the fact you will be pissin' yourself laughing at how you not only managed to blow up (at any given time) the enemy...but your own troops as well.....ps watch out for the dead that are a little on the plump side...gas-filled ...they don't need to get close when THEY blow up...ugly...anyway ...that is another wicked wicked game ....good for years...actually ....decades of laughs and good gamin'
Just type in the title in a browser and take a good look at photos of some game play...another beauty of the game is...when that mission or battle is won..you can SAVE the video of it...(so I'm sure youtube has a good pile of vid footage that was uploaded...gonna go see...have a laugh)...so you can sit back and watch the whole thing unfold ..show your friends...enjoy the laughs over and over...study how to improve your tactics...study your enemy's tactics....seconds are precious...speed of troops...distance to engagement...hilltop advantages.. means ALOT esp when you are outnumbered...(doesn't mean you can't be overrun but..)..how many of the enemy you can take down before you must stop...... grab your men.... and run as fast as you can...stop ...turn ...shoot some more...A few fights are balanced odds...only a couple are in your favour....so odds are stacked against you...(Bah! ...really...where is the fun in a fight you know you win)...it doesn't take much for the dead to kill the living ....but it takes alot of arrows...alot of hacking to take down the dead ...

Ha! here is in game recorded vid footage...
this 1st one is just level one...the 1st encounter...flawless execution...the guy has played this alot....very rarely does it go THIS smoothly and without casualties...good quick example...there are others on youtube showing tactics resulting in hilarious COLOSSAL epic self massacres...which tend to be the norm (esp.) for 1st time players.
I'm gettin a helluva laff from those clips

I was talking about something to run Mac OS classic, like BasiliskII. Unlike DOSBox, where WarlordsII are merely playable due to VERY long turns and crappy graphics, BasiliskII runs the game perfectly smooth and fast, at least on PC.

Ooooooh! Here I thought you were talking about mac emulation directly on the n900 for working/experimenting/muckin' around !
On a pc emulation would be ALOT easier.
Basilisk is good...personally had fun with that on my n8x0's ....I'm not up on current Mackineese ..but there must be allowance to do something like Virtualbox? I would think....on your pc that is...that way you could play the games far more smoothly. I would imagine that Mac isn't THAT restrictive too not have the ability to run decent software like virtualbox...then just load up win7 or xp in it and play your games...I do admit that gaming system strain on emulator or virtual os...results in it not really being the best alternative...not yet anyway...few more years and I'm sure it'll be more fluid gameplay...My best suggestion would be partitioning your hard drive off and dual booting win7 (win is atrocious I know...but it is grand for it's games) or less invasive than putting it on your hd and sharing the space...putting it separately on a 2nd hard drive...or even a usb or sd card.....anything but an emulator... performance will be poor for gaming...more busy the graphics ..the worse it'll be.

OOOOh!!
hmm..
ya...
well then...

Here I was thinking your purpose was emulating on a pc....

HMM....right ...on n800/n810 basilisk runs decently....
I haven't bothered with playing with Basilisk 2 on the n900....
...since those other emu's I mentioned run slow...not to mention virtualbox would be troublesome...I believe it can be done ....but I think it did not go (at the time) much further than proof of concept....
Slower than Basilisk 2 would anyway....

Hmmm...I'm sure there is an answer..but off the top of my head I can't think one...not without mucking around and trial and error with you ...on my n900... I am curious now that you've posed the puzzle...but I am at the moment just taking a quick 30min. break from my current little fun puttering in one of my studios....so this must wait a week or two until I can get distracted with anything else.
