It's called Stockholm syndrome. The more opensource tortures you the more you put hope on it. You need help.

Well, half the pages ago you said you don't trust 'other software' aka software that isn't branded by Nokia, now suddenly you have hope on Opensource?

Oh hey look, yet another person has decided to attack people who don't like closed source software.
It's obvious that you're mistaking this forum for the Apple forums. Also, this and several other posts should be removed, if this topic is to remain relevant.

open source is good
thing is..
open source might take ages to do what nokia can do in jus some lil time.. *resource/profession/number of peeps participating/ past experience factor*
how long did it take for one missing feature for open source to perfect?

Sorry to make you feel uneasy, but obviously you haven't read my replies all along this thread. This is a long thread I can understand.

No you did troll...at least I personally don't think you're a troll.
However, I'm not sure I should stick to the topic of the OC raised, as you can see (or you've the patient to read from the beginning), that I've already answered to OC, make on-topic discussions all the way, and concluded. The replies I gave today are just to answer to you questions. Nothing more.
In retrospective, you shouldn't have dug such an old post that the original topic is already very outdated and irreverent (pre-PR1.2 problems). If you want people to stick to the topic, make your own post.

**** ANYONE WHO HAS ISSUES WITH THIS THREAD REPORT IT OR DO SOMETHING BETTER, THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY****
comment ur issues and i'll add em on this post to make it more easy for ppl by not making them surf 900+ posts
thank you
*add suggestions that can actually be changed i.e not hardware based*
1) no say callers name or different ringtones
2) n95 has better camera quality *in my opinion* **i'll test and confirm this**
3) no vsync in messages *scrolling and frame rate*
4) virtual keyboard is difficult to use
5) and flash 10 was promised, *yes, i contacted nokia via email, europe didnt reply, mea had the same typical "we're sorry that u are having issues with ur nokia device"
6) and speaker sound is damn low when i turn it on during calls and why switch the screen off when its on loud speaker?
7) no voice navigation and it has has nothing to do with qt
8) and app manager refreshing is waay to slow
9) widgets missing, during changing themes and if selected again, they come back to their original position
10) offline gps location finding?
is this a hardware limitation?
coz n900 consumes lots of data when online
11) it would be nice if software update could be checked in an adjustable time period coz again, i loose all my credit *prepaid* when it suddenly checks for app updates
12) internet access customizable like s60v5.. java apps
each can set which apps can use net and how to notify
13) i read the bugjar thingy, didnt get a technical sh*t
can someone tell me what happened to the BME becoming open source for the host mode project?
14) can someone confirm that n900 can never have multi touch support.. i read in wikipedia that resistive can have multitouch and it was provided to windows mobile *htc i think* recently..
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=58193
15) its laggy and 500mhz min is safe to use, even if u keep 600mhz max and the laggyness goes away
16) cant repeat songs, jus play-lists
17) if someone can come up with a widget for dialer, i've seen one around but its too small
if someone cal make a portrait based widget *dun care if ti takes up the whole screen*, i'll be glad coz opening up the dialer flips the screen *which is slow* and we also have to tap again for the dialer
18) all components open source or contribution on research projects and porting of other OS which require drivers of closed components
19) media player should have a specific folder to look into rather than the whole memory *recorded calls for example, dont wanna them to be played after my song is over*
20) copy contacts TO simcard is missing
21) portrait apps to say the least like sms or photo browser with a portrait based virtual keyboard
22) call duration, record of past calls and their duration along with internet *not wifi*
23) Videos stutter a lot for the first few seconds of play back.
24) Scrolling through a long list can be quite jerky. For example if you are scrolling through the thumbnails of your photos.
25) Sometimes the phone rings with a blank screen for a few seconds so no way to answer the phone. I know a few others have had this issue but not sure how wide spread it is.
26) there is no equalizer for media player
27) there is no power saving mode *and power-saving, i meant like s60 has a system like.. when the battery is like 5-10%, the screen brightness will be reduced.. and if they limit processor state too or switch it to powersaving as governor, that could actually be useful*
