Ok, 3.3 is up. Saves your rotation settings and fixed the diablo problem.

Let me know.

The purpose of this feature for me would be if I set it to portrait and then move the mount, or remove it in order to get a better look, or in most cases when I have it in my hand as a passenger... my movements do not cause it to rotate...

In some cases this causes it to rotates twice, once to the wrong direction and the once again to the orientation you prefer to view it in.

This however is not such a big deal now as it appears less sensitive and is quicker to respond. In the first build I used there was a noticeable lag and often I would give up and rotate the device to the way it is displayed but because of the lag, it would catch up with my first orientation I would rotate back and the lag would send it the other way.

This would go on for awhile like the dance you sometimes get into when some one is exiting a door way at the same time you are entering it and no one can decide what side they want to be on.

..but again, this lag is not as noticeable now.

As long as you don't close the app that shouldn't be a problem anyway? Once you set landscape or portrait it will not autorotate anymore until you either go back into settings or close the application.

But, in either case, 3.3 will keep it saved to whatever you set permanently until you change it again.

Thanks for that fix.

However, I've now had a couple of times where it freezes (but the timer keeps counting down) and the pause button doesn't work. Skipping to the next song works ok. This is different from before: I could then at least get the pause/play button to change state (and in one of the versions, this would cause a stuck song to restart from the beginning, which was ok). Could these problems be related to my not having a PandoraOne account?

Please push it out to testing so we can get more people to look at it. It's in pretty good shape by now (much better than some apps in stable!).

I need more details on this.. when does it freeze? Middle of song? end? before starting the next song?

Do you get anything from a terminal?

Shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Are you running another program in the background that connects to the internet from time to time? A lot of widgets do as well as the latest version of Sygic Mobile Maps. (Sygic is also pretty rude about what it wants and how it gets it. )

I had something similar happen today while driving...

It was like something was stealing part of the focus from pyRadio, if that makes sense, In my case, music would continue to play but most of the buttons would not respond. This would be temporary and not last longer than a song and in most cases control would return much sooner.

This behavior cleared up as soon as I disabled the online services within the Sygic program.

Another thing that perhaps should be asked by all developers is:
Have you changed swappiness?

This mod seems to be all the rage on these boards now but from what I'm reading, many of its proponents don't seem to have a full understanding of how this may affect multitasking and multi-thread applications.
I'm the first to say that I don't know what all the effects, if any, changing these factory settings have and if the benefits are mainly eye candy. Eye candy means nothing to me if a previously working program now doesn't work, or now doesn't work as well as it should.

I tried the mod today from one of the reconfigured debs found on these boards and I wasn't impressed. In Mobile Maps for instance it affected things like when upcoming POI icons displayed on a moving map. With swappiness set to 30, down from the stock 100, these icons for POI's I pass every day seemed to now appear much later or not at all. I removed it right quick after that.

I now wonder what effect this could have on other programs as well.

Shouldn't have anything to do with it.
I've also seen this issue 2-3 times where the sound will stop but the countdown timer keeps on running. This happens middle of a song. Pressing play/pause button a couple of times usually fixes the issue.

I've installed v3.3, and I will use it this week at work to see if I have any issues.

I do have one question right now though... Are you using HTTPS when sending the username and password to Pandora, or is this sent over the network in clear text?

Thanks
slim

Looks like clear text.

There is some form of encryption going on.. but it doesn't look like it's going over HTTPS. I ran it through a tcpdump and I don't see my password. Pandora sends quite a lot of info back I never noticed before .

My understanding is this uses the same method the Flash-based app on their website uses as well.

ETA: But, to add: It is stored in plaintext on your device in ~/config/pyradio/config.
