What code do I have to type in x-terminal to get the ideal settings.
I think your problem, is 'our' problem.
Now it's getting hard to OC with this kernels and the possibility to custom it with our frequencies.
But let who understand about it to do their work (very good until now, keep going!! )
At last, when the kernels are optimized, i'm sure they'll do a GUI or more detailed and easy way to do that stuff like change freq. and other!

Keep going guys.

Yeah.. i agree. The difficult thing is to know what is good for your device and that is something only you can discover. It's a trial n error thing. I too feel there is an lack of documentation though Titan has put together a nice wiki that explains the basic things. Take a look if you havent: wiki.maemo.org/Overklocking

It's basically five steps to get the maemo22-oc working.

1. make a backup of all your data. important!
2. make a file in "/etc/event.d/" named "kernel-maemo"
3. make a file in "/etc/default/" and name it "kernel"
4. edit the "/etc/default/kernel" file to your likening
5. write "start kernel-maemo" in the terminal to get OCd

The two files can be copied from here

Thanks for your answers. It's getting too difficult.
I'm waiting patiently for a user-friendly gui.
Until that I keep on reading this thread.

I copied your script but I get an error trying to start it:
Code:
Nokia-N900-51-1:~# start kernel-maemo

Nokia-N900-51-1:~# start /etc/event.d/kernel-maemo

Nokia-N900-51-1:~# ls -al /etc/event.d/kernel-maemo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1134 Apr 14 16:48 /etc/event.d/kernel-maemo
I don't know what I'm missing... does someone know?

Edit: Sorry just found out... I copied the file from a windows-machine at work using LF-lineendings and all... but I have missed one byte on the second line...

@Titan,
Thanks for the great work you have done for the N900 community.
I intalled the maemo22 package, and tested all versions etc. ulv, lv, xlv and idel) with the different cpu and voltage settings.

I am setting down with ulv 250-900 Mhz with the most stable for my device. The battery life has been increased by about 36%. My battery life with the stock version for my normal usages was about 7 hours, but now with the current OC ulv 250-900 Mhz, the baterry life is about 9.5 hours for about the same activities (watching videocast, serving web, listening mp3 etc.)

I just want you to know how much you have contributed to the N900 community.
Thanks.

I've added 5th revision of my time_in_state script to the wiki. I've improved it a lot and added debug info which can be used for instance to cp into a forum if you're asking for help. I'm open to feature requests and of course bug resolving. Post if something doesn't work.

someone seems to have started working on a GUI for overclocking etc.
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=49971

my current plan is to rename kernel-maemo to kernel-power (for power users)
as there are some trademark issues http://maemo.org/legal/terms_of_use/trademarks/.
I would upload the new kernel-*power packages and a tiny transition package "kernel-maemo-flasher maemo23" that would require kernel-flasher-power and could be removed after installation.
I also plan to change the DSP frequencies from Hz to MHz so that we don't need such long numbers.

For the upstart scripts I would create a new package "kernel-power-settings"
that we could develop independently.
In the future it could also contain a daemon that make sure that the min. frequency is preserved over phone calls.

If have suggestions for a better name, please let me know.

Hi!

"not all settings can be stored in pmconfig. Create the following file /etc/event.d/overclock for them"

start on started hildon-desktop
stop on starting shutdown
service
console none
script
echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load
echo 75 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold
echo 150000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate
end script

I have don this, but how do i start the script, or make it start automatic when i start the phone? i have googled but no luck..
