You knew it was going to happen...

Phones with Amazon App Market are beginning to ship:

It seems that Android has grown beyond Google! Now google's competition has really arrived!

Price drop? Price plummet.

The Bell Galaxy Tab has dropped to less than 66% of it s original price:
http://www.bell.ca/shopping/en_CA_ON.../70850.details

The Tab costs $399 CAD off contract! This is a pretty impressive price, and if it wasn't for the Honeycomb toting Galaxy Tab 8.9, I would be getting ready for the purchase.

I'm not seeing any definitive proof that the $400 US eee Transformer price is for real, unfortunately. Last I heard it disappeared from the Best Buy site.

If anyone sees a place I can buy it for that, please post a link.

This is tantamount to your cable Internet provider insisting that your PC *MUST* run a specific supported version of Windows with their software shoehorned in. Worse--their software comes with ads that you're not even able or allowed to remove. I say, "F*** you, very much." It's a computer, whether it comes in a desktop, a tower, a laptop or a handset console. If it's got an operating system platform that runs software, it's a damned computer--gets your goddamned hands off my paid-for computer.

Welcome, time traveler, to the land of the present!

In all seriousness, I agree with you, though the times are a changin'. Open will continue to get my money moreso than closed.

Oh, and the EEE transformer looks hot. I like the detachable keyboard in that it is a) slim, and b) acts as a stand. This is something that can't be done very reliably with most BT keyboards. The price is also incredibly good.

The Tab had a keyboard (don't you own this?) as should the new Tabs. I think I prefer the samsung solution, though it has 3 large shortcomings over the transformer.
1) The keyboard doesn't act as a screen protector
2) The keyboard dock juts out and makes the unit an odd un-sleek shape
3) The thing costs way more than a keyboard should.

I can see a lot of people wanting to own the transformer. It should b a solid enough tablet! Just wait until Asus starts iterating... We'll see tons of devices that fit many different demographic wants.

Very, very nice.. Rogers has the Xperia Play and Xperia Arc up for pre-order.

The price is $99 on a 3-year, which is quite normal for Canada... sigh...

More Canadian news for all the Canadian lurkers:

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/04/bes...nexus-s-stock/

It seems that Bestbuy has gotten hold of the Nexus S! Very, very nice.

Despite running last-year's SoC, and lacking a microSD the openness of the device and quick updates is a compelling reason for purchase.

Did you ever watch Demolition Man? This is about the time when I would have to repeat what Simon Phoenix says: "GOD D*MN! People from the future are a bunch of p*ssies."

Quoting the same movie again:
"You see, according to Cocteau's plan, I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think; I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech and freedom of choice. I'm the kind of guy who likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, 'Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of gravy fries?' I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green Jell-o all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing 'I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener.'"

My point--stop trying to claim you're "protecting me" whenever you impose your not-so-subtle bootlocking and other bull**it on these devices pretending they're not computers.

Yup~ I have one. You neglected to also mention that the keyboard also forces me to mount the Galaxy Tab vertical instead of horizontal (which I'd have preferred). I'd rather have a WIDE screen when docked, than a tall-screen.
