As it should be. The whole IP scene seems archaic. Here's hoping that things tend towards actual ownership upon purchase.

This is tantamount to your cable Internet provider insisting that your PC *MUST* run a specific supported version of Windows with their software shoehorned in. Worse--their software comes with ads that you're not even able or allowed to remove. I say, "F*** you, very much." It's a computer, whether it comes in a desktop, a tower, a laptop or a handset console. If it's got an operating system platform that runs software, it's a damned computer--gets your goddamned hands off my paid-for computer.

In all seriousness, I agree with you, though the times are a changin'. Open will continue to get my money moreso than closed.
Oh, and the EEE transformer looks hot. I like the detachable keyboard in that it is a) slim, and b) acts as a stand. This is something that can't be done very reliably with most BT keyboards. The price is also incredibly good.
The Tab had a keyboard (don't you own this?) as should the new Tabs. I think I prefer the samsung solution, though it has 3 large shortcomings over the transformer.
1) The keyboard doesn't act as a screen protector
2) The keyboard dock juts out and makes the unit an odd un-sleek shape
3) The thing costs way more than a keyboard should.
I can see a lot of people wanting to own the transformer. It should b a solid enough tablet! Just wait until Asus starts iterating... We'll see tons of devices that fit many different demographic wants.
