Still using my old N900, my other one has a dead USB port I think, RockBox is by far the best music player I ever had, and Notes is pretty darn good either.

Well, I'm back (yet again) to using my N900 as my main phone.

I went over to the dark side for three months. I bought a Nexus 4 directly from Google. The phone died a miserable death last week: I carelessly dropped it corner first onto a very hard floor. The phone is just so slippery. Anyway, I have come back to my N900, a phone I've owned and used for quite a few years now.

Coming back was quite revealing. I feel so much more in control when using the N900. I trust the phone to not be doing all kinds of underhanded things on me, such as communicating my own information to Google et al. And obviously having a keyboard is just so nice after all that on-screen keyboard nonsense...

However, I must admit that I miss two things from the Nexus 4: the larger screen and the speed, especially the speed. I can generally live with the smaller screen and I do like the touch screen on the N900 better, in any case. However, using the N900 does sometimes feel like wading through molasses.

If only somebody would produce a real N900 replacement. Sigh.

Looking for a new keyboard based phone that comes close to what my N900 gives me...

I'll use my N900/primary phone as long as Jolla makes a qwerty sailfish phone. Until then I'm all-in to Maemo 5.
I just acquired a PolarCell battery and Sony MBW-150 to my N900

For what, white housing?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_tr...at=0&_from=R40

I got one of those. Yes, from China. The build quality is surprisingly good but the keyboard has extra (presumably Chinese) characters and the symbols are not translucent, making it useless in the dark.

I have yet to figure out how to disassemble the screen to move it to the new housing though. Any hints?
