This is a looooooooooooong shot, but...

... Is there a possibility of synchronising the gPodder playcounts with iTunes? As long as I have an iPhone / iPad (the latter may be getting the heave-ho later, but not right now), iTunes is a necessary evil in my life.

However in one way it's not evil to me - the playcounts, which are as essential as gPodder on the N900 is for keeping track of what I've listened to. It would be fantastic if the playcounts would somehow migrate from gPodder to iTunes (and vice versa...).

gpodder.net is perfect for this kind of thing. The only problem is that the iTunes database is encrypted or at least not documented (I haven't looked into it myself, so I don't know the details), so there is really no way for us to write a gpodder.net client that synchronizes with iTunes.

If you find a way to read the playback position from iTunes and to write a new playback position into iTunes, I'll be happy to provide you with the details on how to integrate this with gpodder.net. Once the information is synchronized to/from gpodder.net, the Maemo 5 version of gPodder will take care of automatically updating the info.

I doubt that you tried *all* YouTube usernames, and you failed to give me *one* specific example (that's all I asked!), and so I can't reproduce your bug here, and so I can't help you. Use 2.11 and it will work. If not, the YouTube feature is not meant for you. Feel free to use cuteTube or something else. Sorry!

I just tried with my own YouTube username (marxianthecoder), and I get the same result. The problem appears to be the 'ob=0' parameter that is inserted into the feed URL. If you enter the URL into a web browser, you get nothing, but remove '?ob=0' and the feed is displayed.

Thanks. I figured gpodder.net would probably come into the picture. Ill look into it.

Ok, so it looks like the problem is with the YouTube search results. Thanks for that Can someone file a bug at bugs.maemo.org for that so that I don't forget? In the mean time, if you have a specific YouTube username, the easy way to add it is via the "yt:" shortcut, i.e. if you would like to add marxianthecoder, use the following "URL" in the "Add from website/feed URL" option:

Code:
yt:marxianthecoder

Is it possible that gPodder will have its own internal player? Everytime when I play, it will open and take over the default music player.

I think an internal player like the one implemented in cutetube will be great, so I will have more control on which and how I want to choose and play the podcast. The default player is not good at managing podcast, which is also another reason that I want gPodder to be an independent, full fuctional podcast manager and player.

Hope I am not just dreaming.
