FPS games aren't hard to control at all when you use the accelerometer to aim. You could use the keyboard for moving and for actions... This was done in the S60 ports of the Quake trilogy. Seems it's hard to get the same games ported to Maemo with full graphics, mod supports, etc. Is someone interested in porting these games?

Alternatively you could use a DualShock 3 or Sixaxis controller.

It still must be really hard though... I can't see playing homeworld on my n900 being a pleasurable experience. Still though, I would love to see a few strategy games, Cnc sounds like something I could play on the n900, as im sure the screen could be scrolled using the keys or did I dream that up?

I just want Rise of the Triad, pleeeeeeeeeease!

Doesn't aiming with accelerometers make you look like a tin-foil-hat rocker-impared person having a seizure?

It can't be more pleasurable than a large screen and mouse/keyboard. It's a port, so by definition out of its element. Still, in a bind, it's good.

For example, I play OpenTTD for hours when trapped, even though it's a game that welcomes huge screens and mice. Still, with a stylus, it's better than a nail in the foot and it does draw you in for the 3 hours you are trapped in a hair saloon in another town with only one car.

maybe it's just me, or perhaps a little too late in the day but the sentance "welcomes huge screens and mice" just sounds... well... like a drive-in for rodents.

accelerometer sounds awefull for games like quake etc, I've seen the quake three demo and the it seems there's a reason it was only the first level showed, there's no way it can beet the mouse and kb combo. plus as Ndi points out, you'd look like a right burk shacking ur arm on the bus!

a) That was really funny.

b) You don't shake your arm, because that rotates the screen. To keep your sense of orientation, you need to keep you head aligned. NOW you look like someone who drank an unlabeled bottle.

YES. There is many ways to implement it and in that video itīs implemented in good way. Some keys to success

- Accelcontrol only turning (towards, backwards from keys)
- Give user access to sensitivity
- Also put some inertia to turning so that it doesn't react to too little turns but still reacts so that you do not have to tilt whole screen sideways

So....Do we have ANY game right now on N900 that can be installed pretty easily and has optimized accel.controlling taking account of list.
