Also regarding the $50 visa, I would think as long as you can prove the charge on your card being between those dates, it would be valid, no?

Um first i placed my order. They gave me some bunk reason about CC company not giving an approval. The strange part is that nokia gives you 5 days from the "hold" to fix the situation. They cancelled my order on the 3rd day.

I called on the 3rd day to fixthe situation but they told me i would not be able to because they no longer had item listed on theior computers. The i say but...but... i have a pre-order number, i have a phone designated for me. They said no.

I was on the phone for like 2 hours with them arguing with them. They said there was no n900, i said then what about the pre-orders. They said sorry but when and if they got them in stock they could sell me one for $599, To which i responded then you will get them. They told me that anyone who ordered the n900 with the coupon which brought the total to $441 would canceled.

I have been seeing who ordered from dell and seeing if anyone else is cancelled. I seem to be the only one. I think they dont want to sell it to me at the price.

Seeing as how i had 5 days to fix the problem, i have printed the email that says cancelled on 3rd day. I am not taking this laying down. I hope i am the only one they cancel but i wont lose this one.

If you can't afford to honor coupons, then don't advertise them. All coupons are completely valid as issued, I think. Dell has deep enough pockets to sell the phones as the final price ($441 + tax). Don't be a bunch of d-bags, Dell. Do the right thing and quit f'ing with your customers. And IF you do cancel, you are complete a-holes for not doing it within a business day or two.

Five years ago- yes, Dell had deeper pockets. As I posted before, if Dell can find an easy way out of this, they will claim they canceled due to back-orders, but will somehow have no problem shipping to all of the people that paid the $600 price. Nokia is eating the $50 rebate, not Dell or anyone else.

Summary in simple numbers:

Dell has 1,400 preorders and 1,000 phones in the shipment allocation for them. What chance do you all think the $442 price orders have a chance of being filled verses $600? ZERO

$148 time each unit will tell you the answer

If Dell is constrained with supply, we have virtually no chance of seeing the orders be honored. Ever.

Added:

Let us hope they have plenty of N900's in their allocation and do not freeze some of it and claim "back-ordered". They would then purge the back-orders and magically have stock again

My point is... if you aren't planning to honor the orders, you should just cancel right away.

I agree, but that does not fit the "passive aggressive" tactic for canceling these orders. Once they get the product, eat through their allocation with actual $600 orders, they could then reove the product again and claim "back-order", purge or orders and then report the product a few days later.

Seriously, if you had more orders then supply, who would you sell them to? People you will lose money with, or people you are making about $158 more?

The only saving grace in this scenario for some may be if Dell only cancels orders from people who have never purchased from them before. Since I bought my Q8200 system in March from Dell. I should be OK

Not long to find out if Dell is going to honor the orders, so we shall see!

I do not think our orders will be bumped down just because we used a dell coupon.

I think once we placed an order our position in line is stamped.

Dell is a huge e-tailor they issued a coupon and those coupon worked we didn't cheat the system or did anything shady.

Once the pre orders exceeded what Dell had ordered they immediately ended the offer.

Dell is obligated to serve us in a timely fashion it was never stipulated in the deal that we would be served last if we took the offer.

I had ordered my desktop from dell a few years back through an awesomely cheap deal I found on slickdeals, dell honored the deal and I received my computer very quickly. This is just my 2 cents I could be completely wrong lol.
