Installation via HAM obviously failed (it must have shown "installation failed" or impossible).
for upgrading from older experimental kernels use
Code:
apt-get install kernel-power-flasher
apt-get remove kernel-flasher-maemo

I now have stock kernel again (maybe - since I'm quite confused because of playing with these about 5 hours )

uname -a

i had same i used -21 and ideal which all worked great, today i decided to upgrade to -24 with power kernel and i am not getting a solution, whatever i keep trying

HAM does apparently not support package transitions, especially from the previous experimental (!) versions. so the upgrade via apt-get is the only way it could work.
