Here's an interesting question: if you bought one of these tablets and the manufacturer had installed Android on it instead of Sailfish, would you be able to re-install Sailfish?

I'm guessing not, because of the HW drivers (this is the reason you need a working CM11 base to run Sailfish on other HW, right?)

I see the biggest issue to be that Jolla's servers won't allow you to download Sailfish OS packages without registering the device and if you get the device from "unauthorized" source they probably won't allow registering it.

Imagine buying a tablet... twice.... then not being able to register it

Hmm. Jolla was pushing their HADK package pretty hard over the last year, and seemed to have no problem using Sailfish on their Android machines. In fact, I was able to activate Sailfish on my Nexus 7 when I installed it just last week...

EDIT: I meant to say that Jolla had no problem with other folks using Sailfish on their Android machines.
