passwd command will update the root password, which changes BackupMenu's password by extension.

What I may end up doing is allowing a "rescue load" - pressing S at the first (black-backgrounded) screen will have BackupMenu load all it's files from an archive on the SD, including a default ssh and password file.
Otherwise, it boots off the Rootfs, and uses your files.

I'd prefer not to have to look three pages down the apps forum for my topic, thank you very much. :P

I'm not sure, but I doubt the sound thing is (easily) possible - We have no sound-system running.

Yeah, I figured as much ..

No sound is fine,
but when you do a OptFS + RootFS backup, when its complete it says OptFS is backed up. It would be cool if there was a mini terminal at the bottom (?) as if you press "start backup" and do not watch it you cant be 100% sure it worked for the RootFS

No, that's where you are wrong - If it error's out at -any- point, it'll give you a message and make you press a key to continue. I probably should add the "rootfs has completed" message to the final screen, but I hadn't thought about it.

Didn't test the latest version but does it still say it would create an image backup in the menu? It's just the labeling of the menu and not important but might confuse users who are looking for tar backup instead.

Nothing - as of yet - can create a image backup.
You'll know it when I add it - "mtd-utils" will be required, I'll talk a lot about it etc.
But, I'm gonna try to get -this- pushed into testing before messing with flashable images.

Just created a new backup and there was no mentioning of an image anymore. Again, it was just some label in one of the menus and seemed to be left over from earlier version. All right now.

Upgraded to 0.56-1. Tested the ssh mode, it works, however it seems to be different from 0.32 - I think in the old versions most (all?) of the normal filesystems were mounted, in this new version no filesystems are mounted - just wanted to know whether this is the intended behaviour?
