Since when did you have the problem?
I'm like 99% sure that it is CSSU related. I did a reflash yesterday because the new camera-ui wasn't (and isn't) working for me. I reinstalled all apps but forgot to test fcam before i reinstalled the CSSU...
Anyone else with the closing camera-ui problem who fixed it?
EDIT: Got it working by opening the camera app with lens cover closed and setting "Storage" to sd card. for me it was "mmc-undefined-name"

Did you have any other camera applications running? (e.g flashlight).

how to restore the old camera-ui? i'v been taking alot of pics and most of them doesnt have any focus
The UI was working, but there was no image flowing in. It was all dark, the screen still had "18.3 cm" written on it from last image.

Sometimes no focus for no reason (I don't remember the old camera changing brightness while attempting focus - new camera does, it *feels* like it switches to ISO 100 while attempting focus.
Last night it completely broke the UI off from the actual camera. The UI was working, but there was no image flowing in. It was all dark, the screen still had "18.3 cm" written on it from last image. Shutter button did nothing half-pressed, took black picture when pressed (no, the lid was not closed). Happened immediately after taking a dark photo.
Also, don't want to be rude, but said this before. A small button on the left for "take shot" (with a blue square) but a 3" diagonal button (the whole image) switches full-screen to windowed, a function little used during shooting.
Also, in image preview mode, old camera UI as well as fcamera and other cam apps revert back to shot mode if buttons is half-pressed, hinting the user is ready to shoot again. This one does nothing (requires hand repositioning to click back).

I would love to have the camera sounds back. I had some DSLR sounds which I actually thought made taking a photo more enjoyable :P

In my case the camera does not focus at all, when the camera mode is Action, Landscape and Night. It focuses correctly using Portrait and Macro mode, in Macro mode it focuses also on long distances (several meters here inside, where I tested). It focuses uncorrectly in Automatic mode - eg. 16,62cm instead of about 2 meters.
And I also got this: , but after closing and reopening the lens cover I got the picture back...

@MAG re Adding new contacts in portrait mode.
Im not saying its a Bug in the original N900 SSU its a bug introduced with the Community SSU.
If someone would confirm that without the CSSU installed you can
In phone portriat mode highlight a number that is not a saved contact and click Add new contact. This should open the new contacts card in landscape with requiered fields to fill in such as Name,E-mail ect.

What I can do however, is try to fix bugs introduced in camera-ui.
