That is why we have alternative devices and os's....
I say let them bog it all up more...!
Please.. I hope they make an already ugly cumbersome dinosaur even more top heavy....
I hope ios and win do as well...
As is the wont of behemoth corps...
It just means that the quasi monopolistic triumvirate of crap...
falls that much faster ...
If Nokia can be bought...(or parts of it)
If BB can fall from grace...
Then ....for android ...it is only a matter of time...

Think about the rigidness and weight of the whole concept, how it is a fragmented and torn piece-of-os...

Doesn't actually solve the real mount point problem but in the f-Droid repos(I assume you use it) the app Mountie(needs root) does a half-assed job of auto-adding a user accessible mount at /storage/emulated/0/mountie (emulated, sigh). With Amaze file manager(can do root) and FTP server(really!?!.. no scp?!) and you have a working system that works reasonably well to move files both wireless and USB-OTG. But yea, no real mount point.

I haven't, thanks for the suggestion, I will try it later. The point was mainly about it not mounting under /media or /mnt like it used to (can't remember which one).

The only thorn that could potentially screw the platform is if Google starts to embed gapps into a new version of Android without GPL/copy-left components, and makes gapps a prerequisite for the system to run. I'm sure people who couldn't care less about closed source software would be very happy with fuss free security updates, but for the rest of us it would be horrible.
