Hmm... Looks like I've got the same problem too.
The above command didn't run successfully.
Log:
Code:
~ # apt-get install system-ui-screenlock-nokia --reinstall
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

The backlight doesn't go off automatically even if I keep the phone unlocked (neither does it gets locked). Previously, keeping a finger above the proximity sensor used to turn off the time displayed on standby screen. But now it looks like the sensor doesn't detect an obstacle above it. Though, during a call, the backlight goes off. So I guess sensor is not dead.

PS: I am on PR1.2 and hence not really comfortable using N9QTweak. Also, I don't want to do a reflash as of now *blush*.
Any workaround?

run the command again but just do as root first:

rm -rf /var/lib/dpkg/lock

Sorry for the late reply. My phone got switched off and I was not carrying the charger with me

I've removed the dpkg/lock using the above command and when I tried to reinstall the system-ui-screenlock-nokia, some dependency issues came up. So used the -f option:
apt-get -f install system-ui-screenlock-nokia --reinstall
This gave me some weird errors. Actually I was trying to install the meegoal.deb last day which was unsuccessful (though it created a desktop icon, the app fails to launch when I click it without throwing any error). I could see some dependency issues related to meegoal when I tried to reinstall the system-ui-screenlock-nokia.

Log:
Code:
~ # apt-get -f install system-ui-screenlock-nokia --reinstall

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.

meegoal: Depends: python-pyside.qtgui but it is not going to be installed

Depends: python-pyside.qtopengl but it is not going to be installed

Depends: python-pyside.phonon but it is not going to be installed

system-ui-screenlock-nokia: Depends: libqt4-dbus (>= 4.7.4~git20120202) but 4.7.4~git20120125-0maemo1+0m7 is to be installed

I don't know why, but I always feel comfortable installing the packages offline

ok so just remain connected to the internet and as root do:

Code:
apt-get install -f
See if the dependencies are corrected first...

No idea what had happened now
after ap-get install -f, I did the apt-get install system-ui-screenlock-nokia --reinstall
Around 200-250 MB were downloaded and it took around 45 mins for installation.

Now all my icons are in landscape mode still the sensor issue not fixed

I need your output to see what you did...

What did you actually end up installing...

Since it is practically impossible to share the whole log, I've taken a screenshot when the installation was complete. Did a restart soon after that and after the restart, everything is in landscape mode. Btw, I think all the default apps got reinstalled including Skype, Twitter, App store and I've even seen the swype keyboard being reinstalled during the process.

Screenshot just after the installation:

Yes you re-installed most stock apps including mp-harmattan...

Can you do the re-install for sys-ui now?

Btw, use SSH, its easier so you can get the logs too

And did a restart.
All app icons are still on portrait mode
