I'm also a bit worried about covering the sensor with my hand while holding it. I already cover the light sensor on the N810 often, causing the display to dim. But the manual specifically says not to cover the left-hand side with any 'tape', so I guess they were thinking of screen protectors when they wrote that.

Is it more that screen protectors without the cutouts for these sensors will impede their function?

The manual shows the proximity sensor using the whole of the space to the left of the screen, so a cutout for the proximity sensor seems to be not possible.

What do you think about this case? It is adjustable in the width.

I was aching for a black version of this case back in the day for my 770 (hand made in Spain mind you) http://www.pielframa.com/nokia_770.htm I'm sure if they made an N900 case it would be attractive.

I really hope Proporta makes one for the N900. I missed getting one for my N800.
I´d recommend Noreve for quality. I´ve had Noreve cases on three different Nokia models and they were all top quality and fit well. For those living on the eastern side of the Atlantic, I pity you for the shipping services Noreve uses there. Chronopost / The French Postal Service is neither fast nor really reliable.

If you´re here in the USA then the cases come pretty quickly and are shipped from somewhere in CA.

Actually, I have the vertical version of that case and while I have not used it much it is quite nice in person.

Which one do think looks nice? I think the Vaja cases look nice but doubt they will come out with one for the N900.

there's only one turnoff: rubber band.

gives me creeps.

nice leather and all and then... rubber band and plastic knob

(and judging by product pictures, the band and knob will be seen far away)
