Actually it would be good thing, that first start is in offline-mode and you have to put it to online and then it ask SIM. What you think?

And since then we get this https://github.com/maemo-leste-upstr...0fcd140c630510, bringing stable 60fps in portrait (vsynced) and about 25 fps (double to what was before) to landscape.

Low fps in landscape is because modesetting driver seems to use SW rotation for portrait mode.

EDIT: how to write with Pinephone keyboard "-"? FN+7+shift gives "_" and FN+9+shift gives "_".
I tested stable september 25th image and this problem is fixed..but now with FN+7(or 9) you get "-" and +shift you get "_", but you cannot use them as F7 or F9. I think it should be this way:
FN+7 = F7
FN+9 = F9
FN+7+shift = -
FN+9+shift = _
am I right?

btw..internet has lot of low quality/misinformation about Pinephone USB-C port with Pinephone keyboard.
I think I only trust this measured information, in short:
"So the only thing to worry about is to not connect anything to phone's USB port when keyboard's USB port is occupied."
original source: https://xnux.eu/log/#072

So it seems that it is safe to use Pinephone Keyboard with Docking Bar (in phone's USB-C port), if you don't charge same time. But make your own decision and don't blame me (or writer of original blog post) if something happens with Maemo Leste.

And Leste should support Docking Bar in lower level, but there is not any upper level (automatic detecting and GUI support) yet.

I tested with this image:
https://maedevu.maemo.org/images/pinephone/20230212/

And hint for testers...it seems that is normal in first boot after battery replace it boots to OS what is in eMMC, second boot it boot from SD-card, but it only shows red-light and third boot it boot to Leste.

BUT I can not write "-"-char at all in terminal.
FN+7 = zoom-in
FN+9 = (does nothing?)
FN+7+shift = zoom-in
FN+9+shift = 2~

Is there mole in development...or why this kind of changes?

Just given this a try on my Pinephone, and have been able to send and receive an SMS and make and receive a call (audio quality seemed fine).

Very impressed so far. Just need to see how stable the modem is and whether it works after during and after a suspend.

Haven't managed to find any other OS for my Pinephone which is good enough to daily drive yet, so really hoping this could be it.

Would love to hear other people's experiences.

Thanks

I still have above keyboard problem.
I tried hints from https://leste.maemo.org/PinePhone
and I tried update firmware, but I get this when I try:
"Opening keyboard I2C device
WARNING: You may need to load the i2c-dev module (modprobe i2c-dev).
ERROR: open (/dev/i2c-2) failed: No such file or directory"

Also I have problem with 4G data connection, connection logo just blinking. Have somebody else same problem?

More about that my keyboard problem after I made that what warning helped me to do, after that come this;
"Opening keyboard I2C device
Flashing code ROM
ERROR: Flashing command 0x57 failed"

Also I didn't get "setxkbmap pp altgr" work or does it really need new keyboard firmware, because I get:
"Error loading new keyboard description"

Has somebody samekind of problems?

But anyway the keyboard is good even without new firmware or new keyboard map. I now just only tapping the screen when I need "-"-character and hints for all: push space to get out of screen keyboard. Also you can copy "-"-char and just use ctrl-v to write -.

And 4G problem come interesting, I use same sd-image, but I don't get same problem, it get worse, now Leste doesn't find SIM-card at all, but it is not hardware problem..Could it be that some another OS upgrade modem firmware to not to be Leste compatible?

EDIT: added quotemarks to error messages to get message more readable.
EDIT2: that 4G problem is solved with another Pinephone.

Or should I even update firmware?
I found this (from https://xnux.eu/log/078.html)
"For some reason firmware 1.3 doesn't have very reliable I2C connection. Probably because the MCU power down mode affects the I2C slave modeule/code somehow, now that the chip actually goes into powerdown way more often."
