well for me the n-900 is the best of the best, i got it from the first day of release. and for being sincere is the most exciting thing i ever played with recently, i like the challenges this cell offers me, i like to try new things, it doesn't matter if i brick or do whatever i do to the cell, but then trying to recover from the death the n-900 is so exciting jejejejejej, this cell besides all the good apps that it has, also give u a lot challenges, that if u are willing to fight, overnight, stop eating, even stop goig to the bathroom just because u are figuring out how to? u will find it very active device.
so guys just be calm and see the bad things from a good positive site u'll find the n-900 very very very worth of having.

psd. sorry for my english

Nokia still have the best hardware, but when they finally get the software wortking for it everything else has caught up.

Anyone agree or have i had too much sun/beer today?
I totally agree and share your feelings on this device!!!

There is a lack of decent/usable applications that makes this device go 10 steps backwards from what other symbian n series devices have offered...

IMPO, i think someone should get the very latest android v2.2 to run on the n900, so we could all dump maemo/meego and start enjoying the n900 device.

N900 surely is the best piece of hardware out there but commercially the n900 is just dead, i have approached many of the top software vendors that have applications that i would like to use and they don't have plans to release any of such applications... one good example of such commercial failure is opera browser itself, the team at opera who have n900 devices had to release something from their own back sides... but the question remains why doesn't opera produce an officially opera release??? Unless has something to do with apple terms and conditions like the recent situation with apple and adobe...

IMPO without usable apps the n900 device is commercially dead.

The apps I use on the N900 are usable, by definition. Are you using any apps on the N900? Are they usable?

I love my N900. I bought it to replace my N810 (which I bought to replace my N800). Unfortunately, the N900 does NOT replace my N810 as I travel and I need to communicate via Ethernet networks. I have been assured that the problem is being worked on. Nokia historically has not solved the problems with the N800/N810/N900, it has been the USERS that have solved the problems. That I believe is the core of Open computing. I look forward to the USB problems to be solved soon. Who knows what the 1.2 firmware upgrade holds? We will know when it comes out and I trust WE will solve the problems that crop up.

Peace

Whats a usable app? Why would Apple terms and conditions cover Nokia phones?

Usable is just that... usable. Apple has nothing to do with that other than it is happens to be a popular platform. Same with Android and that's where many users are coming from.

However as it stands... people are asking for certain kinds of apps that still do not exist on the platform. PR1.2 is being blamed since you cannot test your Qt 4.6 apps yet. Some other reasons ranging from "I don't want my mobile computer/N900 to do that" (rather egocentrically stated from whomever will have posted that sentiment) or some other BS. PR1.2 better have a flood of apps that follow it's release or even that excuse is BS.

But simply put, different people want different things. If they come from an iPhone, Android, Symbian, WinMo, Openmoko or whatever background, does it really matter other than that's what they're looking for on their phone/mobile computer/whatever the **** else somebody can label it.

Instead of fighting that, why don't people embrace the ability to create simple apps - location aware apps for instance, augmented reality browsers for instance, applets (small, centered apps) that do one thing or another thus simplifying the browser experience... and by god, it seems like the majority of the people just keep saying "it's not the <insert whatever platform>" and are content with lacking than having.

Does this mean that there are not developments going on? Not at all. But more could be a good thing... usually it is a good thing. But... somehow, some users here prove that to be... wrong somehow.

Makes zero sense.

Flame away. By now I think you guys know I don't care. I just want Maemo to be more robust and I don't like waiting games... namely waiting to see if MeeGo will come 100% to the N900. I want to hear that, in plain simple terms from Nokia. Not cryptic little sentences that amount to nothing more than a "maybe" from whomever Nokia has allowed to say a couple of words in these forums.

An usable app is something that is usable. Something that adds function and makes your platform more viable. That's what it means. No room for much more than that.

Rant... over.

Yes, there should have been a single question quiz...

Are you aware that this is a Step 4 out 5 device?

If not please, return item to the shelf before security arrives.

you didn't know that before buying?!?!?!?

it was so obivous that it couldn't have been any clearer unless Nokia would have said: "there will be probably only user apps, and most likely no one will develop to it commercialy because there is no DRM"
