I still hope that those come legally to market.

If I can get a hold of them I am hoping to be able to arrange a happening when Leste is ready where new users could get 2 N900 phones with 20€ and teaching how to use them. To get more users to this game. Not wanting them to make profit or to hold on to them endlessly.

Fishy, yes. But outright criminal? I don't think so.

Just a deluded person who thinks they hit jackpot when they found this suitcase (looks like a guitar case btw) full of "collector" phones. Probably has some hazy notion that they're all protoypes or "limited edition".

Unfortunately sellers like this, you just have to wait them out. Try again in a month or so.
By contacting him so soon and appearing so eager you just gave him the impression that he's on the right track.

Or be willing to buy the whole bunch, and prepare for some hard haggling.
But even so, you'd have to wait until he realises that he probably won't get a better offer, and it's too soon for that.

I bought them today. There 58 phones. About 20 had back cover. Not sure how many really works but could not let this one to go. We can have a competition of guesses how much I paid.

The facts:

17 phones have backcover with the metal piece, sim and sdcard holder in place.

3 or some more covers without the little metal piece for camera.

About 40 without backcover.

At least one has a loose usb port taped behind the phone.

Not sure any of the phones really work but you are told from untrustworthy seller that about 20 boots up.

What would you pay? What did I pay?

The game is on.

I just hope it was not too much.

It is actually really difficult to place price on them. They are not collectors items, but wanted in certain circles and there are not too many of them available. As a phone for regular folk they are of no value. As for user "who knows" how to use them, I personally would say 20-40e a piece.

Remember the original price tag the seller had.

And I always offer for online seller 25€ per mere device, 30-35€ with box and bells and whistless. That fact I have given i some post in the forum so fare to tell it here too.

There were three guys when i made the deal. The tattoed guy gave me a hint how to ue those wih no backcover when i said the camera won't work on those. "You can always put a prepaid sim in, make a needed call and throw both away". I had to save those phones after I heard that hint.

Whou! These are real N900 dealers. These guys seems to know what is phone security! But why not use cheaper older phones? Or these guys seems to know one special thing in N900, there is not SIM Application Toolkit, but if they throw phone away it's doesn't matter.
