The funny thing is that I know this! Arg. I probably need to go to bed now.

You mean like Katix-EFIS / Katix Engine Monitor? :-)

Thanks for that link - I was not aware of that project. That connects to the AHRS via USB - I was thinking of something that ran independantly of the aircraft. Which is why I thought a Maemo 5 device (read: accelerometer capable Maemo device) with GPS could be configured to provide airspeed, altitude, and attitude (through something like Jaffa's Horizon). It could at least serve as a backup for the main gauges. The 'Airman' application could also store things like flight manuals, maps, and checklists as part of an EFB (electronic flight bag). Obviously more of a novelty item, as opposed to something you would solely rely upon in the cockpit. And sorry for taking this thread off-topic...

I had thought that enriching the display with GPS information (speed, height etc.) would be good. Having the speed available should also give you some kind of feeling of movement on the display too (things flying by, perhaps dust like Elite).

I do like Attitude as a name (some of Texrat's suggestions too, but perhaps not "Floater").

Tonight I'll try integrating lardman's wiimote provider, fix the Python dependencies to be more explicit and rename it.

BTW, I think I should test this in a real plane; and use it as a cockpit backup. Anyone want to buy me a plane and/or flying lessons?

IMO Jaffa's Horizon would be pretty good name too
