Just wanted to link to that (it was me asking), but again as i see it, it's not yes and not no. they just don't give straight answers. but on other hand we know that there is flash 10.1 for n900 (it was on video and it's same arm as droids have), so why it would be so difficult to release and why Adobe need to ask Nokia( i think it's connected to pr1.2 (sounds stupid, but again what does they mean by "working close with Nokia")

No, because HTML5 is simply not designed to do everything that Flash is. As much as I hate flash being a closed product and I think every internet technology should be open sourced / specced, it IS still needed for a lot of things besides video streaming.

I think one of these two things are going to happen. Either you get flash when the system is upgraded, not included in update but available in extra-devel or something like the Nexus One, or you don't get it. Android users have to have Froyo to download the BETA, again I repeat, BETA to use flash 10.1. It just came out a few days ago. Most handsets are not able to get Froyo unless they root their device. It is still in beta but runs okay on Nexus. Similar to when I had the N900.

The app was not in android before update. You can't see it unless you have it.

To me, flash provides:
1. Video streaming
2. Graphically rich web UI
3. Other multimedia content (games, slideshow, etc)

Since this thread is about (1), my question still stands.

It seems to me html5 can take care of #1 and #2 just fine. I don't know how html5 handles #3, but I don't use those much anyway and would rather block (and optionally view) those type of contents.

One tiny note, html5 is not a player. The browser (with the formats IT supports) is. Does anyone here remember just how long it took to get proper PNG support in all major browsers ? So far it seems we will be seing a GIF/PNG style feud for a long time to come.

man. the world is one funny place. no wonder apple has taken everyone over. brainwashed.

what does everyone think HTML5 is??? a flash replacement???? adobe flash is some kind of evil?????? lol HTML5 it will never ever fully replace flash ever. ever ever. ever ever ever. eevr. ever.

Flash 10.1 will bring something amazing. GPU SUPPORT & ACCELEROMETER SUPPORT............etc. no more lag. no more software rendering. flash 10 and html5 will be amazing hand in hand

Yes.

Though I would reckon the rate of adoption is much faster today than it was during the IE5-6 era with better auto-update mechanism, broad broadband availability, more knowledgeable users, etc.

Anyway, it's like we have to choose between the lesser of two evils here.
