Qgil IS in a position to know the release date, as he is one of the principle Maemo persons at Nokia. OS 2008 will be out when it is out. Hold your horses. Even if it is finished right now, it is probably a good idea that they haven't released it yet. If nothing else, it gives community developers to port their apps to the new OS.

I think it goes as it went with n95. You get the basic navigation software installed, you can dl maps and such, but if you need voice aided guidance, then you must fork 90 euros for 3 year licence.

As I understand the FAQ on the wayfinder site the basic maps are included in OS2008 (or can by downloaded from their site for free), but the additional voice guidance can be enabled by the license-key of the NavKit2007. But I don't see how that is really cheaper, because at last here in euope the NavKit is around €200. It makes only sense, if you don't want to carry too many gadgets with you around. For this money you could also buy a standalone TomTom ...

I am definately getting a standalone Navigation devicde. Nokia is asking too much of my money this time.
