If you have trouble installing a program you need to specify some things to get help
  • the device you are using
  • the operating system version
  • the version of the package you are installing

to run games from xmaeme. I notice that only certain roms work.
I found this site with xmame roms for the neogeo, and all the roms I DL(around 30) work.

guess a quick how to is in order.

To install GnGeo
1. create a folder /media/mmc1/roms/neogeo
breaking it down, you will create the roms folder and then create the neogeo folder inside the roms folder also if you want create
a xmame, vba, and fceu folder inside the roms folder.

2. Inside App Manager install gngeo, and you should not get the unable to install error anymore.

3. Now find neogeo.zip or neo-geo.zip - google should give up much results with no problem.

4. After locating neo-geo.zip or neogeo.zip. extract the files inside the .zip to /media/mmc1/roms/neogeo/bios/
(/media/mmc1/roms/neogeo/bios/ should've been created when you installed gngeo. If it wasn't then create it.

5. Now going back to the top of this post. I located a website where all the roms I tried for the neogeo work.
I cannot post that link but if you would like the link, just send me a PM requesting it and i'll gladly send you a link.
some websites the roms don't seem to work.
There's a workaround for that, but I think its too much work for the average user. It requires editing files in /usr/share/gngeo/romrc/.

Pro's = speed on the emulator rocks.

Con's = The A,B,C,D on screen buttons don't show up on emulator start. I have to wait until the device go to sleep and then tap the screen in order for it to show the on screen buttons. Not sure why this is happening.

1 game out out of 30 I Had screen glitches, where gameplay wasn't possible.

Xmaeme frontend sucks.

With saying the frontend suck.

Going to try to get XGngeo to build.
My last attempt at doing so didn't go so well
because python2.5-pygame would not install
going to manually instal pygame and then try to build xgngeo.

PS. don't let that stop you from trying to build one of those frontends.

As a temporary workaround until someone figures out the problem, we could just blank the screen before starting gngeo.

Maybe hack up a frontend so it sends a dbus message before launch.

Just got xgngeo frontend built.
Will make a deb package for it when I get a chance.
as with all the goodies i manage to locate and build.
someone needs to take a look at it and hildon the damn thing.
but xgngeo is the definitely a better frontend.

I'm looking for a way to map the controls to my hardware keys on my n810. u can't play a fighting game with virtual buttons. or even using the D-pad on the n810 is ridiculous. I want to somehow map the qwerty board to use for movement and ABCD buttons.. is this possible. you guys are doing an awesome job. wish I could contribute to this project somehow.

the game i'm playing is "wakuwak7"

and my bios files I dumped in this location: "/media/mmc1/play/neogeo/"
u can put them anywhere...

so the command is:

gngeo wakuwak7 --sound --biospath=/media/mmc1/play/neogeo/
