That's the reason why they got to close almost all of their stores. I came to one CompUSA store in Arkansas and found 3 N800. They said they can give me 40% discount which comes down to $240 b/c the original price is $399.99. Is it funny?

I just bought an N800 at my local CompUSA, and they gave me 40% off because it was in their cellular inventory. That would more closely match the numbers you quoted.

Compusa is discounting all their gear because they are closing down all their retail stores.

So are these discounts "in-store only" or is the price in the store the same price I would find on their website?

Because (granted this is a "competitor" and not the N810) if the price online is the same price in the store that is discounted - They have officially gone nutty

Especially when shops like JandR sell that item (link) for ~$350.

which is interesting, considering that Tiger Direct has the SAME foobar'd pricing scheme - $229 for new, $299 for refurbed:

(TD's inventory listing has been like this for several weeks... i wonder if TD is picking the flesh of the CompUSA carrion?)

:-)

and amazon has the n800 for less w/free shipping!

(not associated w/them, btw)

TD bought all of CompUSA's web assets.

So the stores and the web site are now different businesses

I guess they don't inventory on refurbished stuff, so they can'tchange the price to fit. I tried to buy a refurbished computer form TigerDirect before. They canceled my order after all due to wrong inventory.

I stumbled on one at my local CompUSA in Nashville. Picked it up before I had even been here to these forums to find out what an internet tablet can truely do. I am definately hooked. I hope more of you can find one at your local CompUSA. It was in with the phones at the store I went to. Got it for 40% off. At a second store on the other side of town they had the tablets in with the PDAs.
