BRAND: Nokia
MODEL: LD-3W (second opinion)
TYPE: Sirf III
Works ?: NOT with Maemo Mapper
Startup Time (avg):60''
Personal Rating: 8/10
Other Comments: Maemo Mapper exits with segmentation fault after displaying "Establishing GPS fix" -dialog. Works OK with GPS Drive. Could this be position-computational issue as some people are reporting success with LD-3W?

Anyone know where one could buy the Nokia LD-3W GPS module in the USA? All I can seem to find is the older LD-1W - I can't even find the LD-3W on eBay ...

This unit has a solar panel built in! While it's not strong enough to stop the battery level from decreasing during use, it does give you much more time in between recharging as long as you keep it in the sun. Also, rather than plug it in to recharge, just leave it out in the sun for a few hours.

I have had bluetooth conflicts sometimes where I can't use my DUN connection on my phone at the same time as gps, but not consistently. So, I don't know if that's a problem with the gps, the nokia, or the software.

I've got one and it works fine. It comes with a USB charger cable and 12V car adapter so you can charge it almost anywhere.

I do have problems with bluetooth dropping out when running maemo-mapper (and GPSdrive), but this is a problem with the 770 driver rather than the GPS. It works perfectly with my centrino laptop running gpsdiag.
