One of my friend's on IRC has one. He was highlighting everybody in the channel one day from his N800 nick, I came back and asked him what he wanted about 20 minutes later. Apparently he just needed somebody to talk to while he was on the can. <_<

I took it with me everywhere for the first year or so. Now I have rebelled. For playing mp3s, I often use... an mp3 player! It is smaller and more convenient than my N800.

It is very unusual for me to encounter wifi that is free in my neighborhood, so I mainly use it in my house. Of course, I take it with me if I'm going on a trip. And wherever I KNOW that I have a use for it. But I'm through taking it with me just in case. Just in case usually doesn't happen.

So for everyone who brings there N8x0 everywhere, I've one question:

Where\When is the most inappropriate place\time you have used you N8x0?

My N800 is with me everywhere I go.

I am planning a work trip in Turkey during this month's last week and already thinking about making some room for TV shows I recorded during the last few days on the external 4GB card (internal 8GB is for MP3s )

But not only, I have it for car navigation, Canola helps when there is nothing good on the radio (through an external FM transmitter) or no radio at all (or at least, nothing which I could understand like a couple of weeks ago during a trip in Germany ), if only there was a way to read DRMd lit ebooks.. I would buy them directly from it. But nevermind, ConvertLit is installed on my laptop so I already have a good choice of books to read while waiting for next plane.

Well, not all that inappropriate, really, but kind of funny all the same.

My high school job was in retail, and for an hour in the middle of the day everyday I had to cover the back end of the store, which involved essentially doing laps the whole time, making yourself available to help, tidying up and keeping an eye out for shoplifters, and so on.

Part of my "circuit" went through a long back hallway where the employee restrooms and some of the over/backstock were (useful both for the short respite and the potential of surprising shoplifters—which I did successfully, twice), and the hallway gave me about 20-30 seconds to tap out quick IM or IRC messages on the N800 before I ended up back on the floor.

I'd end up carrying on conversations getting in a few words in every 5-10 minutes whenever I hit that hallway. I believe that's probably a large part of the reason I got so fast on the thumbboard.

I too bring it almost everywhere I go.
The "almost" part comes from the fact that it DOES not follow me when going out for friends during the weekend nights.

I am planning to move to London this summer looking for a job, I am sure I will rely on it A LOT for mapping, mailing, calling, taking notes and so on...
