Yes, obviously we're trying to suppress you and drive you out.

And of course, it's all about your point of view, not about ignorance leading to erroneous statements (like "when Maemo takes over"), even though those are what we cite. Because we disagree with you on some issue, it's plain that all our actions and speech must be driven by personal vendetta against you, not by a distaste for factual inaccuracy.

Nothing wrong with gut feelings... IMHO, It helps though to preface statements like "Most people here" with IMHO.

Perhaps "most people here" take exception to statements made by others regarding how they feel or what they think.

As far as the need for newbie centric forums or services; IMHO the drop off may have more to do with the release of Diablo than anything else.

When the N800 first dropped the as shipped OS (2007SE 3.2007.08 I believe) left a lot to be desired. That coupled with a new device, and for some a new environment (Linux), plus the relatively high cost of ownership, created a lot of confusion and frustration among new users.
It did for me at least, but even so most members here treated me well and went out of there way to walk me through some of the most basic tasks.

BTW: Are there that many new users being created now... so many months into the release cycle?
With an updated OS and so many more posts to search for answers, it pro'ly doesn't take as much time to get up to speed.

Maybe maemo.org can ask him to be a moderator when they are added?

For those who miss IMHO's in my messages, please be advised that everything I ever say expresses my opinion.

As far as "when maemo takes over", that is shorthand. We speak in shorthand -- it's the human condition. My understanding is that Reggie is not going to run things, and I am not, so someone else is.

And as to whether there is a vendetta against me -- well, no. But I am reminded of part of the novel Catch-22.

"They are trying to kill me!" said Yossarian.

"They are trying to kill everyone, not just you," came the response.

"WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THAT MAKE?" said Yossarian.

Quotes not accurate; I'm going by memory.

Actually, yes; I've seen a definite uptick in newbie questions since the N810 hit $219 shipped at buy.com.

In his announcement, he said he was hoping to manage the forums. I have no idea if he is going to or not, but maemo.org probably does and it might have even been said so in some obscure place. It would be nice if someone nice gave clarification.

But if he is not going to manage the forums, then I fail to see how your statement was erroneous.

Yes, I'm with benson. There was a major influx of new people with the N810 price drop (we saw a lot of them on #maemo).

No, it's not "shorthand" it's straight up inaccurate. There's a very important difference between "Maemo" (you should quote your own posts accurately) and "maemo.org": "Maemo" is Nokia, while "maemo.org" is the Maemo Community.

Again with the factual inaccuracies. This is why people disagree with your posts. . . .

Reggie is remaining in charge of talk.maemo.org. It's continuing on his servers and under his direction, now, please, pay attention to the facts before you dismiss them as a grand conspiracy to drive out "disbelievers".

The details of the move are outlined in the post about it on the front page. Let me quote the relevant part:

The wiki, Dave's post on the subject also contain pertinent information.

Because Nokia is not maemo.org, itT is not dying, and the goal of the members of this forum is not to "drive out dissenters".
