One week is probably enough time to leave the redirect notices of the new threads posted out of place: changing the current practice of leaving a 1 month notice. This way they disappear sooner and the % of redirects vs threads in the main pages of the forums diminish.

Let's keep the 1 month for the old threads reopened. Maybe it makes sense. If not, let's apply 1 week there as well.

It's not clear whether very generic posts about a specific device should go better on General or th device forum.

For instance Ipod touch owner on the fence is about a guy asking questions about the N810 & OS2008 &apps available... all with the intention to decide whether to buy or not.

Leaving it in General unless someone finds a good reason to have it somewhere else.

I wonder what is the best place for the threads about people asking for data plans e.g. Inexpensive wireless web now in General.

I would say General. It doesn't really fit anywhere else.

It seems to be a good idea to concentrate any thread relative to Maemo 5 in the Maemo 5 forum, no matter whether it's in fact about the SDK, an application, idle speculation...

Once the final version is out and Maemo 5 users start popping up we can go back to the usual practices for OS2008 and previous.

Hum. Is there a way to move posts from a thread into another thread (where they are totally on-topic) and... leave a trace so the posters know what has happened to their posts?

I just moved the 2 posts of a new thread into another and the new little thread has vanished. I thought there would be a similar "Moved" notice.

Anyway, not big deal... if the posters don't complain.

I'm now back to the comfortable position of Registered User. I propose to keep using this thread to request the move of threads to the right fora.

I just found these two in General that now belong to Maemo 5:

RTComm Beta Features in Fremantle?

Fremantle: Why no evolution data server anymore

Thanks!
