I for one would be disappointed if the device does have the tearing issue...

I looked the youtube video very carefully and I can't say if the N900 does have tearing issue. In fact it looked smoother than I was expecting for a youtube video. If you look at the background objects, you can see that those experience the tearing effect as well. Especially look at the video around 3:40 where the hand waves over the screen, you can see the hand tearing a lot. (At least visible on my computer with LCD display.) We all know that this is physically impossible, so it has to be because of the video capture and/or encoding to youtube.

EDIT: Or it could be due to my computer and display limitations...

The flash performance is disappointing.

Other than that, the device looks really good.
As far as the flash goes, you can clearly see in the video that the video is not buffering. You dont see the red bar moving .... so that may be one of the reasons. I have seen other videos with youtube playing very well. His internet connection looks to be slow....

I I dont know who JKK is but he sure has zero background in maemo OS and it clearly shows. It is definitely going to have a very steep learning curve. But after u get to use it a couple of days... i think it is a very good device for newbies.

@sachin: i'd say it's safe to say that probably 80% of the N900 (future) reviewers will not have much background with Maemo OS Better get used to it.

True. If nokia can convince them to keep it for the first week, i think there is no going back for them.... But keeping them for the first week is going to be difficult.... especially for the iphone users.

Jkk is a good reviewer. He's got some interesting write ups on his site:
- Hands on with Nokia Booklet 3G
- Sharp PC-Z1 (small super mini mnotebook running Linux on Cortex A8)
- bunch of other MIDs and netbooks.

@sachin: rofl you don't have to be a n900 apologist this soon.
