i don't know if there have been data transfer speeds published for the n900 yet, but class 2 seems to be fast enough for n8X0 devices, unless you either want to boot from the external mmc, or load lots of large files onto the card using a laptop.

think im going to go for the 16gb class 6 ones instead of 2 class

Never had any problems with Ridata cards, but I've had 2 A-Data cards fail on me so far, with a third threatening to. I refuse to buy them anymore. However, my Kingston, Sandisk, and Transcend disks have been just fine.
