Have you installed "rootsh"? If you have not, try installing it from the app manager.

Ok so i'm very new to this, (have never even used linux on a computer, but i got 2 n900s yesterday) so i'm still learning...i'm trying to install the mplayer which is downloaded in my documents.

I installed the rootsh from the application manager and i opened the Xterminal. first i typed in sudo gainroot hit enter and in the new line this is what i put: "MyDocs/.documents/mplayer_1.0svn2_armel.deb" it said permission denied.

Then i put just "root" instead of "sudo gainroot" and in the new line i put the following: "/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/mplayer_1.0svn2_armel.deb" and it still says permission denied.

ANY HELP ???

I am pretty sure that it should be "dpkg -i"

Try it again because you get exactly that error when you type "i-"

edit: and if it doesn't work copy&paste command and the output directly from terminal here
