The problem is that this does not seem to work properly. There is a bug report about this issue.

OK something else too. Anyone who has HTC, Iphone etc. do you manage to get lock without a network and how much time you need?
PLZ try n900 and your other phone (not a nokia) side by side and try the GPS
thanx

Those with GPS problems
Have you try getting Location Test?
If you can post your results maybe it would help.

My result:
Satellites in view: 15, in use: 4
Accuracy: 28m

This was with network.

I'm going to do one without network.

With A-GPS I clicked the power button on the maps widget and got lock on before I thought it had loaded, 3-4 seconds max. I was utterly impressed after having waits of 1-2mins on my 5800. Hell this was indoor aswell. (Although not impressed by the hideous 'ovi' map application, the only thing I missed from s60 and I'm so impressed with the rest of the phone its not leaving much of a mark).

Am I correct in assuming that if the N900 GPS can't get a fix (I'm indoors at the moment) it should use cell-tower triangulation? Or is this not the case? Per this wiki entry:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/...cation_methods

LOCATION_METHOD_ACWP

Doesn't seem to work...

I was playing with a friends n97 and got the same thing for the Ovi suite, It didn't like windows 7. However, if you go into properties and make it run in Vista SP2 mode, it works fine.

Don't have my n900 yet, but I'll let you know on friday. I run 7 on all my machines.

Neither does mine. No fix even in an intermittent 3.5 G area.

N900's GPS is a Hardware issue or software?

No idea.

I checked later last night, and it located me about 2 houses down from where I am. Said it was a GPS fix. But I haven't seen an A-GPS fix yet.
