=O! i like this idea >=), iam going to investigate a little..
any tip about how to use the camera with Qt?

about the 5 band resistors, truth is.. i've never seen one in my life xD, so i didn't find it necessary, but if someone tell me that are actually common, please tell me, but I prefer to move on and do something more complex >=), this app is just lots of "if", i want a new challenge now that i know the basics =)

btw my package (the n900 sended via DHL)is:
November 30, 2009 08:39 Santiago - Chile Clearance delay

its in chile since:
November 21, 2009 11:24 Santiago - Chile Arrived at DHL facility in Santiago - Chile

iam from chile, its so close to my house, this is so annoying.. its been stuck at "Clearance delay" for 9 days!! i cant wait!!!!!!

Even though I don't know how usable the app might be, the screenshots are great. The graphics are almost a piece of art.
I build amplifiers and would love to have it! I just installed a similar app on my Ol' Palm TREO 680 which gets retired today!

Strange! I'm repairing 3 pieces of gear right now and they're chock full of 5 band resisters.

So did I, until I learnt the mnemonic "Bad Boys Ravish Our Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly".

Great App, xrgo. If you want to add more precision colors, it's Brown for 1% and Red for 2%.

Black Brown Colors of the Rainbow Grey White

A little less appropriate when teaching younger people haha.

Then for the bands, remember Gold > Silver > None (the higher the better accuracy)

If you need ideas for more applications to write of varying complexity, there is a wiki page devoted to apps people love from other platforms that you could try re-implementing for Maemo.

Though I imagine resistor recognition software would be fun to write and provide a nice challenge for implementation.

Exactly the way I memorized and continue to have it memorized.
