Sometimes I fear that "tracker" (the media database indexer)can chew up too much CPU (just had it happen again - device left alone for an hour with media player up but paused - device very slow - Ctrl-Shift-X - top .... tracker at 70% CPU for 30 seconds)
That was a problem with Tracker on Ubuntu desktops/laptops. It was worst when you had a lot of files in your home directory.

I don't know if it's still a problem because I manually removed Tracker from my laptop for this reason.

Tracker looks very nifty, and I'm sure these issues can be solved, but it has had problems in the resource consumption area before, so it's worth monitoring Tracker's CPU and I/O usage from time to time in case it's a culprit.

As a last resort, you might consider re-flashing to base factory config and be VERY judicious on what apps you re-install. It really sounds as though you have installed an app that is mis-behaving and causing your issues...though tracking down which one might take more time/effort than just starting over from scratch.

What the hell are you on about. I was told to switch off and on. I did that. I was told that you also have to remove the battery otherwise switching off doesn't fully reset. I did that. I woke up to more problems. I don't understand some on this website. I am a massive fanboy of Nokia but to just assume that any problem with a device is that of the user and not the Nokia device itself is ridiculous. It is working better now but doesn't change the fact it has given me problems these last couple of days. For you to blame me after I paid over $600 for it is pretty annoying.

Try posting your "top". That might help us.

Sounds like you may want to try uninstalling butterfly. If it started after you installed that, its the only devel app you have installed, and others have noticed slow down with it, well then that's where I'd start.

Uninstalled butterfly because everything was just hanging. Email is still hanging. Will do hard reset. If problem persists will have no choice but to reflash. But that will be really really annoying as I have spent ages on my settings.
