If you mean "Maemo Extras" it is not. I am talking about the three catalogs that users can be safe to install from.

Nokia Applications
Nokia System Software Updates
Maemo Extras

Extras-devel is not for normal users. There are programs still in development and they are not yet ready to be released for general public. It will take a while for the testing to finish and all major problems to be fixed. Then the extras-devel programs will be moved into extras.

Yeah there aren't a whole lot of applications on the store at the moment, but I take solace in the fact that when the OpenPandora project comes out we'll see a few of the cool stuff they've been working on ported to the N900 because of similar hardware.

I'm talking polished emulators and... well really that's about it, but who doesn't want those??

Totally! I've been using the VGBA emulator (sucks that Nokia had to pull it and I had to use terminal to install- can't see proper Linux newbs being thrilled with that prospect) and it's not exactly what I had hoped for.

Wiki and star rating are both great ideas...in fact maybe even multiple star options; for example for reliability, appearance (does it look swish or dated), functionality etc.

Thanks for the input guys, the best installs I've done so far are Zoutube, Hermes, MSN butterfly plugin and of of course, Bounce

I'm hoping to test out the Irreco remote control app tonight; one phone vs my 6 controllers will be amazingly handy.

It's working here. I needed to configure each button to execute the command 3 times in a row. Otherwise my receiver won't recognize it. But configured this way I can control my tv from about 2 meters distance.

When I play bounce I cry knowing that there wont be any RPG's on the platform that look as good as this.

No luck with Irreco for me unfortunately, it gives the following error:

Backend: Internal Lirc
Code: 1
Message: Can not open socket.

...which is mentioned in the Irreco thread a bunch of times, only solution looks to be to load it as root from terminal, which isn't exactly ideal when wanting to quickly use it to flick between channels/adjust volume etc (without having it constantly running in the background of course).

Hopefully that'll get fixed in another update to the program soon *fingers crossed*

So a vote should come with a set of tags:
  • for a [programmer/musician/doctor/real-estate agent]
  • for a person living in [location]
  • for a person interested [trains/cars/planes]

The idea is simple, but I suspect implementation would be tricky.

How about a directory of Flash applications that are proven to work on the N900 browser? That might be a list with the following:

Name of the site
URL
Date of testing
Flash version used on the site (if available)
Browser version used
Category (maybe same as in the Maemo.org downloads section, i.e., Games, Education, ...)
Short description
Quirks (does it fully work or with some limitations?)

Unfortunately, I don't have an N900 yet, so I can't contribute. At the moment there are three flash apps I'd like to know if they work:

www.noteflight.com
www.archchinese.com
www.starfall.com

Any takers?
