Well, when I was 23 I was working at Bell Labs, and some of my friends on Usenet were talking about this new idea of 'cell phones' (Ref the Cellular Mobile Radiotelephone System patent that was issued in Aug 1983).

I did most of my work those days on a PDP-11 running Unix System III which had a 300 baud connection out to Usenet.

Anyway, learn Unix, it is well worth it. Start off by getting OpenSSH installed on your phone, then ssh into your phone from whatever other computers you might have around.

I'd encourage you to spend time with Python, GTK+ and sqlite3 as good starting points for really getting your hands dirty with the phone.

i like long walks on the beach and technology

i've the n95 8gb and people always slaged me for having a "brick" with their lg chocolates and other phones. but i still prefer multitasking and smart OS over eye candy. now the n900 is eye candy with a nerd under the hood!

i'm only sitting on the fence because i'm waiting till i get paid in february.

i tend to keep phones for about 1 - 2 years. i do think that the nokia 6610 was one of the best phones they brought out, it was so user friendly and had a lot of functions. i jumped into a swimming pool with that and it eventually worked after a month of drying out, i've dropped it off tables, had barrels of beer squish it against my leg, i gave it to my dad and he's still using it after 6 years i think now. i'd cry if i did any of that to the n900.

Well as you can tell I am new...The first time was under the wrong area and it wouldn't let me delete it. Which is why there was two identical threads. Was just trying to get it to the right area
