Well.. that sucks.. They should have disabled NSU for N900 maybe. Anyways, I as you can see I gave up and turned to Nokia for help. They're going to fix it, and free of charge (warranty).

HI,

First of all I updated the firmware.

Nothing related to the usb but yesterday somehow I could not get my N900 to life after I shut it down for a reboot. It was dead. I removed the cover and took out the battery and replaced the battery. Now I succeeded to make the reboot.

I had the same problem guys, i was updating the phone via NSU then it was stuck at 1sec for ages, an i was like thats odd. Then I checked here and other ppl had the same problem. So this is what I did.

1. First I disconnected the phone from the usb cable and removed the battery.
2. booted into windows xp pro (32bit)
3. Downloaded the flasher tool and the firmware (to date, you cant dwnload the new firmware from there yet, it still only has up till the last release so i stuck with that which is 2009.42-11
4.Flashed the phone via command prompt using the flasher tool using online guide for flashing, which worked like a charm on win xp 32. I tried it on the xp 64bit and it wasnt working, couldnt pick up the phone. So if your having problems then try a linux os (ive heard it works great on that) or flash it on a 32bit version of windows.
5. doesn't take long for it to flash it, and it will power on itself and bring up the regional settings screen and thats you sorted!

if Ive missed anything out or if anyone still stuck then let me know.

I would like to know if anyone knows why people have had this problem when updating their n900 with the new firmware? also why is it only a few people that have had this? is there a work around?
Any answers or info would be much appreciated as I can't find anything on this issue.

Thanks

Like I said erlier badboyuk, the computer couldn't see the device and I didn't get the USB-logo on my N900 either. I tried it on a XP x32, Win7 x32 and Win7 x64 and none of them worked. So I gave up and gave the job to some nokia people
Anyways, hope to have it back in a few day, now that Ovi store is "kinda" open and all...

I'm having problem, too. Itried reflasing couple of times after I hit enter and prompted allowed a screen will appear for like 1 sec then disappear then nothing happens. waited for a while. All I get was a steady yellow orange light. then nothing. Now the usb icon doesn't come up anymore. Don't what happen.

I also even reset my computer. I use vista 32 bit.
