I've also had problems sending Mail, but they seem related to the use of mail for exchange... here is what I noted.

When I first got my phone I tried Mail For Exchange with gmail. At first this appeared to work, both calendar and email sync'd but it wasn't until later that I realized I could not SEND email. Mail goes to the Outbox, sits there for a bit with a status of "Sending..." then switches to "Failed". BAD.

At that point, I disabled Email sync on the MFE account and added a nokia messaging account to check and send email. Unfortunately, this did not fix the Send problem. When attempting to Send via either account (MFE or Nokia Messaging) the same "Failed" send would result. WTF?

I even tried adding a normal pop account for work address but Sending continued to fail as long as the MFE gmail account was enabled.

Then in desperation, I tested Neavasync. I have calendar sync set up with Nueavasync, and am finally able to send emails with my nokia messaging account.

I never put together a great theory as to why this was happening, but hopefully this story helps someone else out.

I think there are a few different problems all mixed together in this thread.

Mine is:

1) I have Mfe set up to sync my google calendar and tasks
2) I have Noka Messaging set up for 'push' e-mail from my gmail account

When I send mail, my N900 tries to send it from both Mfe and Nokia Messaging so nothing gets sent.

It seems that if you just have either Mfe or Nokia Messaging set up, sent mail works find. Having both breaks it.

Has anyone found a way to just make sent mail go from the Nokia Messaging account?

Hi, I have a similar problem.

I have a blueyonder mail account and a hotmail account set up using NM - they recieve fine but dont send.

I have a gmail account set up using mfe.

I mainly want the gmail acc to sync my calendar. This works fine the first time - delete all items from calendar, sync and it works. Any further attempts just get a mfe failed to connect message and no sync.

Has anyone managed to get their gmail calendar sync working reliably? Its all I really need and it's starting to bug me big time!!

If you could post clear (idiot proof) instructions on setting it up correctly I'd be very grateful.

I'm happy to delete all the accounts and start fresh if necessary.

Stu.

nokia messaging sent mail folder

i noticed a strange behavior. i have gmail, hotmail, yahoo accts setup on NM primary being gmail. If i send a mail through any acctl, i can see it sitting in the sent folder of all three accts. shouldnt it be just under the sent folder of gmail if i sent it through gmail or yahoo if i sent it through yahoo acct. OR is it just one sent folder for the whole NM that appears on every acct.

can someone check if they have the same Sent folder behavior? if they have one folder, its a huge bug

it's a bug i believe : you can't use mfe and NM with the same account or else it wouldn't send

I noticed that if I setup an IMAP account (also for gmail) the email client used that EVEN when the NM account was setup as the preferred account ...

So the mail client is definately buggy here.
